Our exhibition, “Creative Cross-Pollination: The Future of Crafts” officially returns to Peel Street! Aside from the exhibition’s original five works, we have two new additions making their debut in Hong Kong!

Crafts on Peel celebrates and revives traditional craftsmanship by forging a dynamic dialogue between tradition and innovation. By featuring seven exquisite works, we present the convergence of diverse cultural perspectives, lifelong expertise, and forward-thinking designs that transcend boundaries and topple conventions.

| Fun Fact Friday - Bamboo as Material |

Did you know?

The glossy, water-resistant properties of bamboo makes it the ideal protective medium for porcelain jars and vases. One notable example is the late Qing technique of Chengdu Bamboo filigree-encasing, which entails the weaving of spotless hair-thin bamboo filaments that evenly encases Jingdezhen white porcelain.

| London Craft Week 2026 “Creative Cross Pollination: The Future of Craft” - Galvanised Iron Sailboat |
This interactive installation positions galvanised iron at the intersection between cultural heritage and mechanical fabrication. Composed entirely of interlocking galvanised iron sheets and layered metal rings, the work honours the ‘fold and buckle’ technique without requiring any glue or nails. Master Yu and Naam Yu’s interpretation of the iconic Hong Kong junk boat invites viewers to experience the everyday material of industrial utility in light of its cultural narrative and nostalgic resonance. 
We invite you to come and learn about the very material that once defined Hong Kong’s daily life.

這件互動式裝置將白鐵工藝置於文化遺產與機械設計之中。作品由白鐵鐵皮與金屬圓環層疊嵌合而成，當中完整保留了傳統摺骨技法，不需任何膠水或釘子固定。俞國強師傅和余兆枬以白鐵重新詮釋香港帆船，引領觀眾從文化與懷舊視角，重新審視這貌似平凡的工業物料。

| London Craft Week 2026 “Creative Cross Pollination: The Future of Craft” - The Big Ben |
Reimagining the London icon, artisan Inkgo Lam’s cross-cultural installation “The Big Ben” disguises five modular, functional bamboo steamers as the neo-gothic clock tower. The piece showcases the technical rigor of traditional artistry, from the precision of bamboo splitting to the demanding discipline of steam-bending. Reinforced with copper wires and layered inner rims, the structure reflects a seamless blend of Hong Kong’s culinary heritage and global architectural landmarks.

由工藝家林嘉裕創作的跨文化裝置「大笨鐘」以妙趣橫生的手法重新想像這座倫敦地標，將五件實用的模組化竹編蒸籠化身為新哥德式鐘樓。作品選用罕有的紫竹與天然染料，充分展現了包括開竹與塑形等嚴謹竹藝工序。結構輔以銅線與內層襯圈加固，完美融合了香港的飲食文化與全球聞名的建築地標。
我們邀請您在 2026 倫敦工藝週期間，前往皇家雕塑家協會（Royal Society of Sculptors），探索這座「大笨鐘」背後的結構奧秘。
