在俗語中，「太公」指的是家族的祖先。
在春秋二祭（清明、重陽）或冬至祭祖後，族人會進行「分胙」儀式。
早期實行「重男輕女」，豬肉通常只分給男丁。年齡越大的人分得越多，象徵祖先對子孫的庇佑與家族團結。
隨著時代進步，現在許多鄉村的分豬肉活動已不再限於男丁，女性長者或每戶家庭都能領取，真正實現了「人人有份」。
