Miss East Coast 2025,Tatyana Jacobs.had the amazing opportunity to attend the launch of Guyanaโs 60th Independence Anniversary.
From the start, the cultural items were powerful. She was in awe seeing so much of our local talent on display. The dances, music, and performances truly showed the beauty of who we are as Guyanese. It reminded her of how rich and diverse our culture is.
The remarks from the Hon. Charles Ramson, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, and the Hon. Susan Rodrigues, Minister of Tourism, Industry & Commerce, really stood out. They spoke about investing in our own people and our own talent, and how important it is to support homegrown creativity. Their words were encouraging and full of hope.
The feature address by Brigadier (Retโd) Mark Anthony Phillips, our Prime Minister, was inspiring as well. He spoke with pride about our journey as a nation and what lies ahead.
A major highlight was the unveiling of the Diamond Jubilee Independence Anniversary Calendar of Events. These events run throughout the months of April and May. It made her feel excited and eager to take part. Seeing our culture and talent displayed and celebrated like that was unforgettable.
