Miss East Coast 2025,Tatyana Jacobs.had the amazing opportunity to attend the launch of Guyana’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

From the start, the cultural items were powerful. She was in awe seeing so much of our local talent on display. The dances, music, and performances truly showed the beauty of who we are as Guyanese. It reminded her of how rich and diverse our culture is.

The remarks from the Hon. Charles Ramson, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, and the Hon. Susan Rodrigues, Minister of Tourism, Industry & Commerce, really stood out. They spoke about investing in our own people and our own talent, and how important it is to support homegrown creativity. Their words were encouraging and full of hope.

The feature address by Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Anthony Phillips, our Prime Minister, was inspiring as well. He spoke with pride about our journey as a nation and what lies ahead.

A major highlight was the unveiling of the Diamond Jubilee Independence Anniversary Calendar of Events. These events run throughout the months of April and May. It made her feel excited and eager to take part. Seeing our culture and talent displayed and celebrated like that was unforgettable.

As the 2nd Runner-Up in Miss East Coast 2025, had the opportunity to participate in one of her prize tour to the 5 Island & Town Hopping Tour with Wanderlust Adventures, which began in Georgetown and showcased Guyana’s natural beauty, history, and riverine culture.

She visited Bartica, Sloth Island, Fort Island, and Baracara Falls, each offering scenic views, cultural insight, and adventure. Lunch was enjoyed at Aruwai Resort White H2O in a relaxing riverside setting.

Her tour guide, Chris, enriched the experience by sharing stories about Guyana’s history, including the origins of place names and the strategic importance of Fort Island and Fort New Zealandia as historic defense sites. He also told an inspiring story about a local swimmer who, despite losing both legs, was known for his strength and determination.

The tour was a meaningful blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. It deepened my appreciation for Guyana’s heritage and was a memorable highlight of my Miss East Coast journey.

Miss East Coast Tatyana Jacobs visited the May 26 Nursery School, where she engaged pupils in a meaningful and inspiring discussion on the importance of respect and kindness.

Through an interactive “Kindness and Respect Tree” activity, she highlighted the true essence of these values and how they can be practiced daily through simple actions such as listening, sharing, and saying “thank you.” The activity encouraged strong participation, with many learners sharing thoughtful and heartfelt ideas.

At the end of the session, she distributed storybooks to the entire class as tokens of encouragement, promoting positive behavior and a love for reading.

The visit was both rewarding and inspiring, serving as a powerful reminder of the importance of continuing to instill strong values in today’s youth.
