DESIGNER OF THE YEAR - ROBERTO TEEKAH
Roberto was honoured as this year's Orange the Runway Designer of the Year, with the award presented by Michelle Cole-Wagner
ROBERTO'S ACHIEVEMENTS AND IMPACTS
Roberto Teekah is a Guyanese multi-media visual artist, fashion, and costume designer. A graduate of the E.R. Burrowes School of Art, where he majored in Painting and Textile Art, his artistic journey began in his youth and flourished during his time at The Bishops’ High School. Operating under his brand Rio de Roberto, Teekah has gained a strong online following, showcasing his innovative designs and projects.
Key Achievements (2024):
Emerging Designer of the Year Award at Orange the Runway Vol. 3.
Participated in a Mashramani fashion installation at Giftland Mall.
Secured multiple awards for costume and gown designs, including:
Best Costume at Miss Guyana Teen with a Purpose (Raina Thomas).
Best National Dress at Miss Guyana Culture Queen (Shequana Holder).
Best Evening Gown at Miss Pakuri/St. Cuthbert’s Mission Heritage (Ostatia Simon).
Best National Costume at Miss Global International (A***n Dahlia Richmond) and Miss East Coast Beauty with a Mission.
Represented Guyana at the Caribbean Cosplay Championship, earning second place.
Designed the Guyana on the Move collection for One Communications/GTT’s rebranding event.
Teekah's work reflects his dedication to blending creativity with cultural pride, establishing him as a prominent figure in Guyana’s fashion and arts industries.
