Introducing Maisie Maris, our next artist-in-residence at The Paddocks✨
Maisie Maris (b.1993, London) is a sculptor working across metal, textiles, ceramics and drawing. Her practice explores the relationship between human bodies and the landscapes we inhabit, engaging with themes of vulnerability, interdependence, and loss. Often drawing parallels with ecological grief, she creates installations inspired by drawings, photographs and organic materials, evoking systems of care and repair through techniques such as natural dying, embroidery, knotting and layering.
Maisie holds an MA from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London. She lives and works in Athens, Greece.
Recent selected exhibitions include: (Solo shows) Drowning in a sea of you at Electro Studios Project Space, St.Leonards (2026); Estou cheia de pedras nos bolsos at 21 Corpo Santo, Lisbon (2022); (Duo show) DIG IN at Staffordshire Street, London (2023); (Group exhibitions) We Were Always Here at Living Room, Athens (2025); Innocent Pleasures Suit Me at Warbling, London (2022) and I Knock on Your Skin at SET Woolwich, London (2022). She has participated in residencies with SNEHTA in Athens (2025-26), La Wayaka in Chile and Panama (2018–19) and Sail Britain in Scotland (2018).

Η Maisie Maris (γ.1993, Λονδίνο) είναι γλύπτρια και ασχολείται με μέταλλο, ύφασμα, κεραμική και σχέδιο. Το έργο της ερευνά τη σχέση μεταξύ του ανθρώπινου σώματος και του περιβάλλοντος, εστιάζοντας σε ζητήματα ευαλωτότητας, αλληλεξάρτησης και απώλειας. Συχνά δημιουργώντας παραλληλισμούς με το οικολογικό πένθος, δημιουργεί εγκαταστάσεις χρησιμοποιώντας σχέδια που έχει συλλέξει, φωτογραφίες και οργανικές ύλες, αναδεικνύοντας συστήματα φροντίδας και αποκατάστασης μέσα από τεχνικές όπως η φυσική βαφή, το κέντημα και η σύνθεση.
Η Maisie είναι απόφοιτος ΜΑ από το Royal College of Art και BA Fine Arts από το Goldsmith, University of London. Ζει και εργάζεται στην Αθήνα.
