Thessaloniki Swing Festival

Dear friends and fellow dancers, many of you, most likely, expected a post like this sooner or later. Like many others we decided to cancel the festival for 2020. This was not an easy decision but given the new restrictions about large scale events, the uncertainty about the future and considering the well-being of the community, the artists, and participants it feels like the right thing to do.

We hope that sooner or later we can all get together again and share the joy and the spirit of swing dancing. In the meantime stay safe, take care of each other, and spread positive energy.

Sending virtual hugs and positive vibes to everyone affected by the pandemic, artists, Djs, teachers, events organisers, and art workers, and to all of you who miss dancing and the sense of belonging in a wider community.

Alongside artists, musicians, performers,dancers, singers, etc there are hundreds of people backstage, art teachers, technicians, communication teams, producers, venues, festival teams, event organisers and many more equally important.

Hard times require meaningful discussions, new ideas, and adjustments. Thinking more collaboratively and less individually. We are all in this together. The state should definitely support but we are all responsible to drive change. Let’s connect our creative minds, help each other and explore ways to keep sharing and communicating through art. Let’s see this as an opportunity to build stronger foundations for the arts industry, equal opportunities for people and a righteous more diverse system for a viable artistic future.
