🌿 NEW FREE PUBLICATION | EDUCATIONAL ANTHOLOGY 🌿

The Hellenic Cypriot Cultural Association proudly presents the educational anthology 📘 “Child, the Heart of Nature”

a private cultural initiative of the Association, realised through the collaboration of educators, writers, and cultural practitioners from Greece, Cyprus, and the Greek Diaspora in Australia.

🌱 Dedicated to children, to nature, and to the future that belongs to them.

🌏 Inspired by the ecological disaster that shook Australia in the summer of 2019, as well as by the broader global climate crisis, this publication brings together a collective work of word and art:
poetry, stories, drawings, collages, games, reflections, and wishes,
because the heart of nature is children.

📚 Purpose of the publication To serve as:

an educational and pedagogical tool
a means of connection with the Greek language
a bridge of culture, environmental awareness, and responsibility
and to travel wherever Greek-speaking schools, communities, and institutions of Hellenism exist.

🌿 Fourna, Evrytania – A Bridge of Culture & Humanism
✨ With the Eyes of the Soul – My Eyes Are My Windows to the World. From 18 to 21 December 2025, the Hellenic Cypriot Cultural Association (HCCA) will be in Fourna, Evrytania, implementing a multi-layered Christmas action of culture, education, health, and humanism, in support of the NGO “New Life in the Village”, the local community, and above all, the children.

📚🎨 Through books, creative workshops (painting & crafts), theatrical role-play, digital fairy tales, storytelling, and open dialogue with the community, culture will become a living experience.
👁️ At the same time, ophthalmological screening will be offered to children and adults who wish to be examined, highlighting the importance of prevention, vision care, and health as pillars of quality of life.
🎄 The action will culminate in a festive community gathering with the awarding of Participation Certificates.

In Fourna, Christmas will not be just a celebration.
It will be an act of presence, gratitude, and collective memory — a reminder that village life, nature, teachers, and human connection remain essential foundations of culture.

📖 The action will actively include books and creations by the Association’s own authors, while its message and outcomes will travel internationally through SOLOMOS Web Radio TV.

📍 Γέφυρα Παιδείας, Τέχνης και Πολιτισμού στην Αλόννησο
🕊️ Ένα ταξίδι γνώσης, τέχνης και βιωματικής έκφρασης
30 – 31 Οκτωβρίου 2025 | Ο Σύνδεσμος Πολιτισμού Ελλάδας–Κύπρου (ΣΠΕΚ) και ο Δήμος Αλοννήσου συνδιοργάνωσαν με μεγάλη επιτυχία τη δράση «Γέφυρα Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού», αφιερωμένη στη φιλαναγνωσία, την τέχνη, το περιβάλλον και τη βιωματική έκφραση των μαθητών.

Η πρωτοβουλία αγκάλιασε μαθητές από το Δημοτικό Σχολείο, το Γυμνάσιο, το Λύκειο, καθώς και το Εσπερινό Γυμνάσιο και ΕΠΑΛ Αλοννήσου, μέσα από ένα πολύμορφο εκπαιδευτικό και πολιτιστικό πρόγραμμα που συνέδεσε τη λογοτεχνία με τη μουσική, τη ζωγραφική, το θέατρο, τον κινηματογράφο και τη σύγχρονη τέχνη.

Οι νέοι ανακάλυψαν πως ο λόγος, ο ήχος και η εικόνα μπορούν να γίνουν γέφυρες επικοινωνίας, αυτογνωσίας και δημιουργίας.
Η τέχνη λειτούργησε ως καθρέφτης του ανθρώπου και της εποχής, εμπνέοντας τους μαθητές να εκφράσουν συναισθήματα, να σκεφτούν δημιουργικά και να οραματιστούν το μέλλον με πίστη και ευαισθησία.

Η δράση εντάσσεται στο διεθνές πρόγραμμα του ΣΠΕΚ «Γέφυρες Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού», που συνδέει σχολεία, δημιουργούς και εκπαιδευτικούς από την Ελλάδα, την Κύπρο και το εξωτερικό, προάγοντας τη φιλαναγνωσία, την περιβαλλοντική ευαισθησία, την αισθητική παιδεία και την ανθρωπιστική επικοινωνία.

🙏 Θερμές ευχαριστίες προς τους εκπαιδευτικούς, τους μαθητές, τους κατοίκους και τους επαγγελματίες της Αλοννήσου για την ενεργή συμμετοχή, τη φιλοξενία και τη στήριξή τους σε μια πρωτοβουλία που ενώνει την παιδεία με την τέχνη και τον πολιτισμό. 🌿 Great Success for the 2nd Annual Cultural Tribute to the Child! The 2nd Annual Cultural Tribute to the Child, themed “Child of the Earth… Nature, the Great Mother of All,” was held with great success and emotion on Friday, October 24th, 2025, at the Stelios Foundation Conference Hall (22 Kydathinaion Street, Plaka – Athens), under the auspices of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation.

The hall was filled with inspiration, poetry, music, tradition, and reflection. More than 250 guests attended this heartfelt evening dedicated to the relationship between humankind and Nature, highlighting the importance of cultivating environmental and humanitarian consciousness through culture and education.

✨ The Voice of Children for the Earth
The event featured the presentation of the collective educational anthology (ebook) “The Voice of Children for the Earth – Greece, Cyprus, Australia,” a remarkable international collaboration uniting schools and teachers from all three countries — among them the ZENON Education Center in Australia. This moving work combines drawings, poems, musical scores, songs, and stories written by children and teachers as an artistic call to protect our planet.

📚 Anthologies & International Contest Results
The evening also celebrated the launch of the 15th Printed Anthology of the Hellenic Cypriot Cultural Association (HCCA), dedicated to the same theme, and the announcement of the 15th International Poetry & Prose Reflection Contest results. More than 400 creators from Greece, Cyprus, and the global Hellenic diaspora participated, while 223 distinguished authors were included in the new collectible volume “Child of the Earth… Nature, the Great Mother of All.”

Stavros Avgoloupis, Emeritus Professor, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – “The Foolish Man”

🏆 Honorary Distinctions – Exemplars of Culture and Humanism
A highlight of the evening was the Honorary Awards Ceremony honoring three outstanding figures in culture, literature, and education:
Minas Al. Alexiadis, Emeritus Professor, University of Athens; President, Hellenic Folklore Society – Golden Key of Culture & Humanism
Walter Puchner, Emeritus Professor of Theatre Studies, University of Athens – Golden Torch of Education & Culture
George Markopoulos, Author, former Director, Ministry of Culture – Golden Torch of Education & Culture
Their speeches deeply moved the audience, emphasizing the timeless value of education, tradition, and art as foundations for awareness, unity, and cultural continuity.

💃 Tradition, Dance, and Cultural Memory
The artistic program included outstanding performances by two traditional dance groups:

The “Psifida” Association for the Preservation of Karagounikos Folk Culture (Proastio, Karditsa)

The Dance Ensemble of the Union of Cypriots of Greece “Lenia Apostolidou”. Through rhythm, movement, and symbolism, both groups celebrated the Earth and Nature through dance, highlighting the beauty and meaning of traditional costumes, colors, and songs that narrate the history of their people.
For their contribution to safeguarding and promoting cultural heritage, both groups received Silver Keys of Culture.

🌎 Culture as a Global Bridge
The President of the Association, Sissy Osia Sigioultzi, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all creators, artists, contributors, and guests, as well as to Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation for their generous support, which gives prestige and international resonance to this annual cultural institution.

The evening concluded in an atmosphere of joy and emotion, with wine, traditional delicacies, photography, and dialogue, underlining a shared belief:
“Every child is the mirror of our world,
and culture is the path toward a more humane planet.”

📺 The event will soon be broadcast online by SOLOMOS Web Radio TV, allowing it to travel to every corner of the world where the Greek language is spoken, sharing a message of education, humanity, and cultural unity.
