🎥 Join the 11th edition of the Borders Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival, with Switzerland as this year's Country of Honour.
Taking place from 23 to 30 August 2026 on the beautiful island of Kastellorizo, an outstanding selection of documentaries from around the world will be showcased.
As part of the Swiss Spotlight, we are also proud to welcome HEAD – Genève as our Academic Partner of Honour and Visions du Réel as our Festival Partner of Honour. Their involvement underscores Switzerland's meaningful contribution to documentary filmmaking, education, and cultural exchange.
One of this year's highlights is the participation of acclaimed Swiss filmmaker Christian Frei, who will be President of the Main Competition Jury and is going to present an exclusive masterclass.

🎥 Συμμετέχετε στην 11η διοργάνωση του Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Ντοκιμαντέρ «Beyond Borders», με την Ελβετία ως φετινή τιμώμενη χώρα.
Το φεστιβάλ θα πραγματοποιηθεί από τις 23 έως τις 30 Αυγούστου 2026 στο πανέμορφο νησί του Καστελλόριζου, όπου θα παρουσιαστεί μια εξαιρετική επιλογή ντοκιμαντέρ από όλο τον κόσμο.
Στο πλαίσιο του «Swiss Spotlight», είμαστε επίσης υπερήφανοι που καλωσορίζουμε το HEAD – Genève και το Visions du Réel ως επίτιμους καλεσμένους του Φεστιβάλ. Η συμμετοχή τους υπογραμμίζει τη σημαντική συμβολή της Ελβετίας στην παραγωγή ντοκιμαντέρ, την εκπαίδευση και τις πολιτιστικές ανταλλαγές.
Ένα από τα σημαντικότερα γεγονότα της φετινής διοργάνωσης είναι η συμμετοχή του διακεκριμένου Ελβετού σκηνοθέτη Christian Frei, ο οποίος θα προεδρεύσει της κριτικής επιτροπής του Κύριου Διαγωνισμού και θα παρουσιάσει ένα αποκλειστικό μάθημα για προχωρημένους.

For eleven years, with Kastellorizo at the heart of our shared vision, we have continued to promote the island internationally through culture and the power of creative documentary filmmaking.

An official welcome was extended by the Mayor of Megisti, Mr Nikolaos Asvestis, and the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Mr Stratos Amygdalos, to the diplomatic delegations of Slovakia, Spain and Germany, whose presence honours the 11th Beyond Borders.

A truly special guided tour of Kastellorizo and its Archaeological Museum followed, led by Mr Nikolaos Vogiatzis, who took our guests on a fascinating journey through the island’s history and cultural heritage.

Ο Δήμαρχος Μεγίστης, κ. Νικόλαος Ασβεστής, και ο Αντιδήμαρχος Πολιτισμού, κ. Στράτος Αμύγδαλος, υποδέχθηκαν επισήμως τις διπλωματικές αντιπροσωπείες της Σλοβακίας, της Ισπανίας και της Γερμανίας, η παρουσία των οποίων τίμησε την 11η διοργάνωση του Beyond Borders.

Ακολούθησε μια ξεχωριστή ξενάγηση στο Καστελλόριζο και στο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο του νησιού από τον κ. Νικόλαο Βογιατζή, ο οποίος ταξίδεψε τους προσκεκλημένους μας στη συναρπαστική ιστορία και την πλούσια πολιτιστική κληρονομιά του τόπου.

🏆 For its profoundly humane message of resilience and shared humanity amidst the consequences of war, the Golden Wreath of Megisti – Grand Prix goes to “FACES OF WAR” by Didier Cros.

🏆 For its authentic account of migrants where camera and song turn an absurd Odyssey into a story of dignity and survival, the Silver Wreath of Megisti goes to “THE TRAVELERS” by David Bingong.

🏆 For its compelling investigation into dictatorship and national trauma through a daughter's search for her father, the Bronze Wreath of Megisti goes to “MY FATHER AND QADDAFI” by Jihan.

🏆 For its bold experimentation, weaving history, botany, and family memory into a universal celebration of cinema, the FIPRESCI Award goes to “YRUPẼ” by Candela Sotos.

🏆 For its incisive, political, and deeply sensitive portrait of an island’s unyielding destiny, the EKKOMED Award for Best Greek Director goes to “EXILE(S), STORIES OF AN ISLAND” by Giorgos Iliopoulos.

🏆 For its rare access into investigative journalism and the fight against false narratives, promoting core European values, the Award goes to “TRUTH OR DARE” by Tonislav Hristov.

CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE 11TH BEYOND BORDERS

✨ Με μια ενθουσιώδη και βαθιά συγκινητική τελετή λήξης, το 11ο Beyond Borders Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Ντοκιμαντέρ Καστελλορίζου ολοκληρώθηκε, αφήνοντάς μας γεμάτους έμπνευση, νέες οπτικές και ελπίδα!

Για μία ολόκληρη εβδομάδα, το ακριτικό Καστελλόριζο έγινε το σημείο συνάντησης δημιουργών και ιδεών από κάθε γωνιά του πλανήτη.
Μέσα από τις προβολές των διαγωνιστικών τμημάτων, αναζητήσαμε απαντήσεις στο φετινό κεντρικό μας ερώτημα: «Τι μένει αν αφαιρέσεις το προφανές;»

Σε έναν κόσμο που δοκιμάζεται καθημερινά, το Beyond Borders συνεχίζει με συνέπεια να αναδεικνύει την ουσία της ανθρώπινης εμπειρίας, μετατρέποντας το ντοκιμαντέρ σε χώρο ελευθερίας, διαλόγου και αλληλεγγύης.

For an entire week, the frontier island of Kastellorizo transformed into a global crossroad of filmmakers, cultures, and ideas.

Through our competitive screenings, we explored this year's central question: "What remains once the obvious is removed?"

In a world facing complex challenges, Beyond Borders continues to illuminate the essence of the human experience, using documentary cinema as a space for freedom, meaningful dialogue, and solidarity.
