Thank you all for coming. It has been a truly wonderful experience to witness Hanna Schibel’s .schibel process and her deepening connection with “caterpillars – crawling creatures” during the residency STEP 57 | Arms and Legs, jeepers creepers.
Throughout the residency, the work gradually transformed into an installation woven together with poetry and storytelling, culminating in a generous and intimate open studio.
The work remains on view by appointment throughout the weekend.

The work is still on view throughout the weekend — visits are welcome by appointment.

STEP 57 | Arms and Legs, jeepers creepers with Hanna Schibel

During her research in Athens, Schibel focuses on animism, talismanic thinking, and the role of limbs as carriers of the body. Her new collection centers on arms and legs, essential yet often overlooked elements that support movement and sustain life. Observing non-human forms such as caterpillars sharpened her attention to limbs as structures that sustain motion and survival.
The title jeepers creepers refers to the curiosity, tension and subtle unease that characterize her exploration of limbs, and material agency. Ancient beliefs in stones as living entities and pigments as active matter shape her approach to movement, color, and touch.
These observations inform her sculptural process, where care, movement, and material agency intersect.

Hanna Schibel (born in Berlin, based in Vienna) is a multidisciplinary visual artist working across textile sculpture, installation, and drawing. Her practice explores emotionality, care, and connectedness as counter-movements to productivity-driven systems. She was awarded the Ottakringer Kunstpreis and received a project grant from the Austrian Federal Ministry.

Yellow Brick AIR
OPEN CALL 2026 - 2027

Yellow Brick encourages collaboration & creative exchange with the aim to foster an emergent dialectical process and by welcoming up to three artists simultaneously to share its studio and house facilities.

This OPEN CALL addresses artists/researchers of all disciplines from Greece and abroad interested for a minimum of 6 to 12 weeks residencies.*

Acknowledging the creative potentials of artists living and working under the same roof and the prospects of an expanded period of research, YB gives primary focus to applications for an extended stay – thus allowing ample time for meaningful interactions among artists and with the area, Athens at large, YB’s team and local network.

Coined as STEP this AIR module opens up to a public manifestation of work/research in progress taking place at Yellow Brick’s premises.

The current OPEN CALL is directed to individuals/groups with a current practice or a desire to openly explore one or more of the following themes:

- Displacement of languages and histories between borders
- Relations between body and community
- Traditional women’s knowledge

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
* First round: Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
* Second round: Thursday, 12 March 2026.

Applicants who apply during the first round will be given priority.

The selected AIR participants will be informed by Thursday, 2 April 2026.

Visit our link in bio for detailed info on how to apply.

*Yellow Brick continues to welcome applications for a shorter period, but reviewed as secondary and applicable to dates that might come available.

And as always, the most meaningful encounters happen when you least expect them.
We simply went out for breakfast and were welcomed by the women’s cooperative , who generously opened their space to us and even taught us how to make Mandi and Tik Tik.

Deeply thankful for their hospitality, knowledge, and warmth. 🤍
