Καλή Σαρακοστή!🎉🪁
Here is Kyra Sarakosti or Lady Lent and a little bit Greek Folklore. She is made of paper, clay or dough. Kyra Sarakosti has seven legs which symbolize the seven weeks of Lent. Each passing week, on each Saturday, children get to remove one foot, as a way to count down the weeks until Easter. Lady Lent has no mouth, which symbolizes fasting. She has no ears, which means that she refuses to listen to gossip. The cross on her head represents the church and her hands are folded for prayer.
