FKP COLLECTION Florica P. Kyriacopoulos Art Collection Founder of FOUGARO ARTCENTER, Florica P.Kyriacopoulos, started this collection 40 years ago.

An artist herself, Kyriacopoulos began by collecting works of contemporary art, that included paintings, sculptures, mixed media, installations, photography and video. Today the FKPCOLLECTION also includes works and drawings of modern art, dating back to the early 20th century. ft Objects, Ceramics, Vintage furniture and objects, and many collectibles. The FKPCOLLECTION numbers nearly 3.000 artworks and more than 3.000 artifacts. While large and significant, it remains a very personal collection, curated by the collector herself, bearing the imprint of the artist’s eye and viewpoint on every chosen item. Florica Kyriacopoulos often uses items of the collection as her material to create installations, art compositions and environments. These newly - composed works become a lively part of private, professional or public spaces, infusing them with a singular spirit and poetry. The whole of FOUGARO ARTCENTER embodies this concept. Artworks, craft, handmade objects and vintage furniture are woven into all its gardens and spaces, adding layers of texture, colour and aesthetics, conversing with all surroundings, creating a unique art environment, accessible to all.

Με ιδιαίτερη συγκίνηση, το FOUGARO ARTCENTER αποχαιρετά τη Τζούλια Δημακοπούλου, τη μεγάλη κυρία της σύγχρονης ελληνικής τέχνης, που έφυγε από κοντά μας σε ηλικία 92 ετών στην Αθήνα. Υπήρξε κομβικό πρόσωπο για καλλιτέχνες και επαγγελματίες του σύγχρονου πολιτισμού της χώρας, αφιερώνοντας τη ζωή της στην προώθηση και την καταγραφή της καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας στην Ελλάδα.

Ως ιδρύτρια της ιστορικής γκαλερί «Νέες Μορφές», κατάφερε για πάνω από πενήντα χρόνια να αναδεικνύει καλλιτέχνες, πολλές φορές «δίνοντας το βήμα» στον χώρο των εικαστικών και συμβάλλοντας καθοριστικά στη διαμόρφωση του ελληνικού καλλιτεχνικού τοπίου. Η Τζούλια Δημακοπούλου ήταν άνθρωπος που αγκάλιαζε τους καλλιτέχνες με σπάνια αφοσίωση και ουσιαστική φροντίδα. Η συνεργασία μαζί της δεν ήταν απλώς επαγγελματική, αλλά μια σχέση ζωής που αποτελούσε έμπνευση και στήριγμα, κάνοντας τους δημιουργούς να αισθάνονται πως το έργο τους είχε έναν πραγματικό σύμμαχο.

Στην ίδια οφείλουμε και την πρώτη διοργάνωση της Art Athina το 1993, επί των ημερών της ως προέδρου για 18 χρόνια του Πανελλήνιου Συνδέσμου Αιθουσών Τέχνης, συμβάλλοντας στην καθιέρωση και την εξέλιξη της έκθεσης ως πλατφόρμας για την προβολή της σύγχρονης ελληνικής τέχνης, ενισχύοντας τη φήμη της εντός και εκτός Ελλάδας. Η ίδρυση του Ινστιτούτου Σύγχρονης Ελληνικής Τέχνης (ΙΣΕΤ) το 2009 από την ίδια ήταν η κορυφαία προσφορά της, ένα έργο ζωής που στόχευε στη συστηματική καταγραφή και διαφύλαξη της ελληνικής τέχνης από το 1945 και έπειτα. Το ΙΣΕΤ, που το 2022 κληροδοτήθηκε με δωρεά της στην Εθνική Πινακοθήκη, αποτελεί σήμερα πολύτιμη παρακαταθήκη για την κατανόηση της σύγχρονης καλλιτεχνικής μας κληρονομιάς.

Η Τζούλια Δημακοπούλου, μια μεγάλη προσωπικότητα που έχτισε βαθιές σχέσεις με τους ανθρώπους του πολιτισμού, αφήνει ένα δυσαναπλήρωτο κενό. Ωστόσο, το έργο της θα συνεχίσει να μας καθοδηγεί και να μας εμπνέει, καθώς θα μας θυμίζει πάντα το πάθος της για τη δημιουργία και την καλλιτεχνική έκφραση.

Built by artist Florica P.Kyriacopoulos over a period of nearly 40 years, the FKPCOLLECTION started as a collection of contemporary artworks that included paintings, sculptures, mixed media, installations, photography and video.
