NEW SHIP:BALTIC FERRY
The Baltic Ferry was built as a high-capacity ro-ro ferry for Northern European routes, sharing its design and
role with its sister ship, the Nordic Ferry. Operated by Townsend Thoresen, it was an important part of cross-channel
and North Sea transport during the late 20th century.
In 1982, amid the Falklands War, the vessel was requisitioned and converted into a support ship for military operations.
Equipped to carry personnel, helicopters, and cargo, it played a key logistical role. Following the conflict, the ship resumed
civilian duties and remained in service for many years.

NEW SHIP:NORDIC FERRY
The Nordic Ferry was a modern roll-on/roll-off vessel of the 1970s, designed to efficiently transport vehicles and
passengers across key European routes. As part of the Townsend Thoresen fleet, it became a familiar presence in
North Sea ferry operations.
During the Falklands War, the ship was requisitioned and adapted for military use, gaining temporary helicopter facilities
and additional equipment. It served as a vital transport platform, delivering troops, vehicles, and supplies to support British forces.
After the war, it returned to commercial service and continued its career under various operators.

NEW SHIP: MTS ODYSSEUS
The MTS Odysseus was one of the most characteristic mid-20th-century passenger and cruise ships, reflecting the profound changes that shaped global passenger shipping after the Second World War.
Built in 1961 at the Spanish shipyards of Bilbao and delivered in 1962, she entered service as Princesa Isabel for a Brazilian shipping company, operating coastal passenger routes and early cruise voyages
along South America.
As air travel gradually replaced traditional sea transport, the ship was forced to adapt. By the late 1960s she was sold, extensively refitted, and repositioned for the international cruise market.
Under successive names such as Marco Polo and later Aquamarine, she sailed in the Pacific and Asian regions, offering small-scale, classic cruising during the 1970s and 1980s.
Her most recognizable chapter for Greek and Mediterranean cruising began in 1988, when she joined the fleet of Epirotiki Cruises and was renamed MTS Odysseus. Operating primarily in the Aegean Sea
and the Eastern Mediterranean, she became a familiar presence in Greek ports, later continuing service under Royal Olympic Cruises in the late 1990s.
After nearly five decades of continuous service, numerous refits, and multiple roles—from coastal liner to cruise ship and eventually a casino vessel—the Odysseus reached the end of her long journey
in 2008, when she was sold for scrap in India. Her story remains a lasting testament to a bygone era of passenger shipping and classic cruising.

NEW SHIP: CHRISTINA O
Christina O is one of the most iconic vessels of the 20th century, bridging the history of World War II naval service with the glamour of the post-war international elite. Built in 1943 in
Canada as the Royal Canadian Navy frigate HMCS Stormont, the ship served in Atlantic convoy operations during the war.
In 1954, the vessel was purchased by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, who undertook a radical transformation, converting the former warship into a luxurious private yacht.
Renamed Christina, in honor of his daughter, the yacht quickly became a floating symbol of wealth, power, and cosmopolitan life, hosting royalty, heads of state, and world-famous cultural figures.
Following Onassis’s death in 1975, the yacht passed to the Greek government and was renamed Argo, a period marked by decline and neglect. Its revival came in 1998, when it was
acquired by a Greek shipowner and restored to its historic name, Christina O, after an extensive refit.
Today, Christina O remains in active service as a luxury charter yacht, standing as a living monument to maritime history, Onassis’s legacy, and the golden age of high-society yachting.

NEW SHIP: DUC DE NORMANDIE
The ferry Duc de Normandie was built in 1978 in the Netherlands as Prinses Beatrix for Stoomvaart Maatschappij Zeeland, serving the Hook of Holland – Harwich route.
In 1985 it was acquired by Brittany Ferries, renamed Duc de Normandie, and for nearly two decades linked Portsmouth with Ouistreham/Caen, carrying passengers and vehicles.
After 2004 it changed names and operators, ending its career as Vronskiy before being decommissioned and scrapped. A vessel that served as a vital maritime link between
Britain and France for over 25 years.
