Θερμό χειροκρότημα για τους σπουδαστές της Ανώτερης Επαγγελματικής Σχολής Χορού της Εθνικής Λυρικής Σκηνής στην χθεσινοβραδινή πρεμιέρα της παράστασης Metamorphosis, υπό την καθοδήγηση του Διευθυντή Σπουδών της Γιώργου Μάτσκαρη.
Οι σπουδαστές ολοκλήρωσαν έναν ακόμα κύκλο σπουδών και δοκιμάστηκαν σε τέσσερις εξαιρετικές χορογραφίες των Ελιζαβέτας Μπάσοβα / Φώτη Διαμαντόπουλου, Cyril Baldy, Jesús Rubio Gamo, καθώς και της σπουδάστριας της Σχολής Δανάης-Αικατερίνης Μητσιάνη.
Απόψε Κυριακή 14 Ιουνίου στις 20.00, η δεύτερη και τελευταία παράσταση στην Αίθουσα Σταύρος Νιάρχος.

ΤΡΑΒΙΑΤΑ – 18, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30 ΙΟΥΛΙΟΥ 2026
Η τελευταία παραγωγή της σεζόν 2025/26 της ΕΛΣ, η αναβίωση της Τραβιάτας του Βέρντι, σε μουσική διεύθυνση Λουκά Καρυτινού, θα παρουσιαστεί για πρώτη φορά στην Αίθουσα Σταύρος Νιάρχος, εγκαινιάζοντας μια νέα εποχή με καλοκαιρινές παραστάσεις όπερας στις ιδανικές συνθήκες μιας κλιματιζόμενης αίθουσας.
Το αριστούργημα του Τζουζέππε Βέρντι που υπογράφει ο Νίκος Σ. Πετρόπουλος, μετά τη θριαμβευτική του περιοδεία σε Θεσσαλονίκη και Κίνα, επιστρέφει στην Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή είκοσι πέντε χρόνια μετά την πρώτη παρουσίασή του στα Ολύμπια, στο πλαίσιο του αφιερώματος στον σπουδαίο Έλληνα σκηνοθέτη, σκηνογράφο και ενδυματολόγο της όπερας.

LA TRAVIATA – 18, 19, 21, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30 JULY 2026
The final production of the GNO for the 2025/26 season, the revival of Verdi’s La traviata, conduced by Lukas Karytinos, will be presented for the first time at the Stavros Niarchos Hall, marking the launch of a new chapter in summer opera performances held in the ideal conditions of an air-conditioned venue.
Following its triumphant tour to Thessaloniki and China, Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece, featuring the signature of Nikos S. Petropoulos, returns to the Greek National Opera twenty-five years after its first performance at the Olympia Theatre, as part of a tribute to the renowned Greek opera director and set and costume designer.

Tο Σάββατο 20 Ιουνίου 2026, στο Αρχαίο Θέατρο Επιδαύρου, η Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή θα παρουσιάσει τη Μήδεια του Λουίτζι Κερουμπίνι, σε μουσική διεύθυνση Ζακ Λακόμπ και σκηνοθεσία Παναγή Παγουλάτου, με την Άννα Πιρότσι στον ρόλο του τίτλου. Πρόκειται για την ανασύνθεση της ιστορικής Μήδειας του 1961, που σφράγισε με την αξεπέραστη ερμηνεία της η Μαρία Κάλλας, στη σκηνοθεσία του Αλέξη Μινωτή, με σκηνικά και κοστούμια του Γιάννη Τσαρούχη και χορογραφία της Μαρίας Χορς. Τα εισιτήρια για την παράσταση, με την οποία εγκαινιάζεται το πρόγραμμα των φετινών Επιδαυρίων, έχουν εξαντληθεί από τον περασμένο Φεβρουάριο.

On Saturday, 20 June 2026, at the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, the Greek National Opera will present Luigi Cherubini’s Medea, conducted by Jacques Lacombe and directed by Panaghis Pagoulatos, with Anna Pirozzi in the title role. This production reimagines the historic 1961 Medea, marked by Maria Callas’ unsurpassable performance, with stage direction by Alexis Minotis, sets and costumes by Yannis Tsarouchis, and choreography by Maria Hors. Tickets for the performance opening this year’s Epidaurus Festival have been sold out since last February.

> On the occasion of the reimagining of Medea, the Greek National Opera presents the exhibition Callas Point in the surroundings of the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, from 18 to 21 June 2026, with the support of PPC. The exhibition is curated by the internationally renowned Greek set designer Dionysis Fotopoulos, while the video art and video installation are created by visual artist and video designer Pantelis Makkas. To πολυαναμενόμενο ντεμπούτο της στην ΕΛΣ έκανε χθες βράδυ στην 9η παράσταση της Κάρμεν η διακεκριμένη Γαλλοελβετίδα μεσόφωνος Μαρίνα Βιόττι, αποσπώντας το θερμότατο χειρκρότημα του κοινού που γέμισε για μια ακόμα φορά την Αίθουσα Σταύρος Νιάρχος.
Η εκρηκτική Βιόττι μοιράστηκε τη σκηνή με τους εξαίρετους Αντρέα Καρέ, Βασιλική Καραγιάννη, Τάσο Αποστόλου, Γιώργο Παπαδημητρίου, Σωτήρη Τριάντη, Ματίνα Τσαρουχά, Διαμάντη Κριτσωτάκη, Μάριο Σαραντίδη και Ανδρέα Καραούλη.

The distinguished Franco-Swiss mezzo-soprano Marina Viotti made her long-anticipated debut at the GNO yesterday evening, during Carmen’s ninth performance, drawing thunderous applause from an audience that once again packed the Stavros Niarchos Hall.
The spectacular Viotti shared the stage with renowned opera singers Andrea Carè, Vassiliki Karayanni, Tassos Apostolou, Georgios Papadimitriou, Sotiris Triantis, Matina Tsaroucha, Diamanti Kritsotaki, Marios Sarantidis, and Andreas Karaoulis.
The performance is directed by Romain Gilbert, and the Orchestra, Chorus, and Children’s Chorus were conducted by Konstantinos Terzakis.

OPERA FOREVER - SEASON PROGRAMME 2026/27 | ENG
The Greek National Opera’s new programme for the 2026/27 season, curated by its Artistic Director, Giorgos Koumendakis, brings to the Stavros Niarchos Hall important premieres, celebrated artists, new works, international collaborations, ambitious new opera and dance productions, mixed spectacles, musical performances, classical ballet, revivals of successful productions, and one opera for young audiences.

The season’s official opening will take place on 30 October 2026 with a work that will be showcased for the first time at the Greek National Opera—in a grand international co-production with the Glyndebourne Festival and the New York Metropolitan Opera—, L’Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi, directed by the prominent visual artist and director William Kentridge.

In December 2026, a Russian repertoire masterpiece, The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, will be presented in a new, ambitious production directed by internationally renowned British director Stephen Langridge.

March 2027 will mark the return of Igor Stravinsky’s 20th-century masterpiece The Rake’s Progress to the GNO repertoire after half a century, in a new, captivating staging by the distinguished Greek director Alexandros Efklidis.

In May and June 2027, the Greek National Opera will present, for the first time in its history, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, a monumental masterwork of Western music, as part of the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death, in an ambitious mixed performance featuring the GNO’s Orchestra, Chorus, and Ballet.

In February and March 2027, the GNO Ballet will present a new choreography by Valentina Turcu, based on Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire—a co-production between the GNO and the Maribor Slovene National Theatre—, while in December 2026 and January 2027, it will showcase a revival of the classical production of Giselle, choreographed by Verónica Villar and Elena Iglesias.

With the revival of Verdi’s fascinating Otello in April and May 2027, the Greek National Opera will honour Robert Wilson, the prominent avant-garde artist who redefined opera’s stage language. The two black-and-white productions with cinematic aesthetics by Nikos S. Petropoulos will return to the GNO: Puccini’s Tosca in January and February 2027, and Verdi’s Rigoletto in July 2027. Traditional Japanese culture will once again be contrasted with American modernism in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, directed by Hugo de Ana, which will be revived at the Stavros Niarchos Hall in June and July 2027.

Lena Platonos’ musical fairy tale The Emperor’s Nightingale will return to the Stavros Niarchos Hall from November 2026 to January 2027, featuring nine performances for families and schools. Dimitra Galani will stamp her mark on a special musical performance titled Even If You Go Away…, paying tribute to a unique Greek lyricist, Marianina Kriezi, in a production featuring Savina Yannatou and Yannis Palamidas.

Booking for tickets for the October to December 2026 trimester will open on 1 June 2026 at 12.00 via ticketservices.gr and at the GNO Box Office.
