Of course, while in Greece, even though the sunny days and sea are beautiful, you can't forget the amazing dark skies at night! I took this peaceful photo at the family house in Kea the night before everyone arrived on the island.

Not a bad night to be out in the darkness. Clear skies and calm winds made for a nice and peaceful outing. Thought I would make a rare cameo in this particular photo to give a sense of what the night was like.

What a spectacular event! I had planned on doing more landscapes or a timelapse, but the eclipse was so high in the sky that it would have been a dot on my photos. So I abandoned ship and decided to whip out the beast lens.

Pictures don't do it justice, though...Seeing it with your own two eyes was the most amazing experience! It went too fast!

Thank goodness we this was coming, otherwise, for sure it would have felt like end of days. 😅

It's been a while since I've been able to do some frozen bubble photography.  Even in Cleveland, you only have one, maybe two chances a year for conditions to be just right for it. Took this one last week in 6F degree temps and still find it funny being a grown man playing with bubbles in the backyard. 😂

Here's another view of the Milky Way over Kea! I think one of the challenging aspects of this shot was trying to capture the Milky Way behind a brightly lit foreground. There's a delicate balance of how much light you want to let it. Too much light and you lose all the detail. Too little and you get a noisy picture. I took a number of photos of the sky, so that I can stack and remove as much noise as possible. Then took a number of photos of the foreground to blend in. Such an amazing view!

Milky Way οver Ιουλίδα, Κεα

Can't go on vacation without some Milky Way shots! We spent our last night on the island of Κεα driving around trying to find a nice view of the city that aligned with the Milky Way. Shooting over the city has a lot of light pollution but somehow the glow looks a bit magical just like the city that it overlooks!

Moonset and Milky Way over Lake Kournas

It's been awhile since I posted a Milky Way pic.  I took this photo during last year's trip to Greece.  This was at Lake Kournas, which was an amazing freshwater lake in the island of Crete. After dinner, we stayed up into the evening, watching the Milky Way as the moon set into the mountains. It made for a spectacular view!

One of my first attempts at capturing the Milky Way was at the Observatory park in Montville, Ohio. I have bit more experience since that first visit, and decided head back. Here's my timelapse from last week's new moon.
