Visual Artist Diane Schreiner came to the village in 2024 with a tourist group. She fell in love and returned to stay in the artists village apartment to capture our lovely place.

Yen-Cheng from Taiwan made a small art project in the kafeneon. He offered to give away free portraits to anybody who wanted one. The locals being a bit shy were hesitant to sit for one but we had enough takers to keep Yen-Cheng busy for a few hours. It was something new and fun. Many of the locals kept sending us small carafe's of raki which left us with blurry heads the next morning.

Mathew who runs the residency just rented an amazing artist studio that was once the original kafeneon on the village square.

Some great news. We have two new options for artists/ writers/ creatives of all kind to stay in. One apartment in the village and an amazing mountain hut not far.

Heraklion city is boiling so we headed up to Ano Asites to get some cool air with visiting artist Lauren Adams and her partner Jake. Later we went to another village just down the mountain for Meze and a wonderful view.

Thank you Lauren Adams for the latest mural. Here are her words about it.

This is "a typical Cretan snail which creates a path along the wall carrying an "arrow of love".
The path has as a motif a decorative outline from the most famous Minoan painting of Knosos, the mural with the Minotaur. "
