Gkotsi art Welcome to Gkotsi Art. This page is my digital studio diary—a quiet archive of the raw hours spent before large-scale abstract canvases. Welcome to my space.

Some of my favorite moments happen before the day truly begins.

The sea is still.
The water is clear.
The rocks are warm from yesterday's sun.
And for a little while, there is almost no one around.

No deadlines.
No decisions.
No need to rush.

Just space to breathe.

I think we all need places like this — places that bring us back to ourselves.

For me, this is one of them. 🌊✨

In the Process Again 🎨

What many people don't see is that every painting starts with uncertainty.

No matter how many works I've completed, each new day in the studio asks for the same thing:

To trust.
To begin.
To move forward without knowing exactly where the painting will lead.

There is always a moment of doubt.
Always something unknown waiting around the corner.

But there is also discovery.
Curiosity.
And the quiet excitement of finding something that wasn't there before.

And at the end of the day, despite all the uncertainty, I often leave feeling deeply fulfilled.

Maybe that's what the creative process really is:
learning to feel at home in the unknown ✨

MY SUNRISE 🌅

Sometimes a painting reaches a point where it asks for nothing more.

I think this might be that moment. ✨

Nature’s brushstrokes.

The softness, the movement, the way shapes appear and disappear without trying too hard…
it reminded me so much of abstract painting.

When the wind starts painting with clouds. ☁️

There’s a very specific kind of discomfort in abstract painting that never really goes away.

It’s the moment you decide to paint over the part you secretly hoped would stay forever.

Not because it’s wrong.
But because the painting is asking for something quieter.

So I covered large areas with white, allowing the paint to flow and soften everything underneath.

And even though the gesture looks calm from the outside, internally it feels terrifying every time 😅

I think letting go is one of the hardest parts of the creative process.
Especially when you’re asked to sacrifice something beautiful for the sake of the whole composition.

But sometimes that exact moment is where the painting finally begins to breathe 🎨

Today I noticed the dandelions blooming by the side of the street.

And somehow, that always feels like the real beginning of summer to me.

The warmth becomes softer.
The evenings longer.
The sun touches everything differently.

No jacket.
No rushing.
Just this quiet feeling that life is opening again.

Lately I’ve been paying more attention to these small moments.
Maybe because they feel more real than anything else.
