The unforgettable three-chapter musical journey of "Summer Seduction, Mozart Meets Casanova: A Fantastic Story in Songs and Arias" unfolded in Lipsi on August 10 and concluded in Patmos on August 12, with both concerts offering a beautiful testament to the enduring power of music to bring Austrian and Greek cultures closer.
Across both performances, Tehmine Schaeffer (Soprano), Luca Lombardo (Tenor), Willi Konstantin (Piano), presented by Amadeus K. explored the lives and legacies of Mozart and Casanova through the project’s concept of an imaginative encounter between the two personalities, combining a variety of music genres and media, opera arias and other songs with contemporary Austrian music and storytelling, creating a dialogue between the historical past and the present.
With the support of the Municipalities of Lipsi and Patmos, the Austrian Embassy Athens and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport , these two evenings offered a wonderful opportunity to share this creative project with music lovers, celebrate the cultural ties between Austria and Greece, and leave a lasting impression on those who attended. Early August marked a special cultural highlight within the Austrian Greek Music Summer program, “Summer Seduction, Mozart Meets Casanova, a fantastic story in songs and arias”, a three-chapter musical journey conceived by Sibylle Fritsch that unfolded across Kalymnos, Lipsi and Patmos.
On 9 August, at the Katerina Klonari Open-Air Theatre of Chora, Kalymnos, we welcomed this original music theatre production, bringing together Mozart’s musical genius and the legendary figure of Casanova through opera, storytelling, humour and an astonishing live interaction with the audience. Tehmine Schaeffer (Soprano), Luca Lombardo (Tenor), Willi Konstantin (Piano), presented by Amadeus K. brought this imagined encounter to life before an enthusiastic audience! A particularly moving moment came with internationally acclaimed soprano Tehmine Schaeffer’s Greek rendition of Mikis Theodorakis’ “Beautiful City”, offering a touching connection between Austrian and Greek culture.
The strong cultural ties between Austria and Greece were also reflected in the presence of Deputy Ambassador Philipp Wassermann of the Austrian Embassy in Athens and Austrian Honorary Consul Maria Moschi, who, together with Mayor Ioannis Mastrokoukos and Deputy Mayor Kalliopi Koutouzi, warmly addressed the audience.
“Summer Seduction, Mozart Meets Casanova” was supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport, the Austrian Consulate in Rhodes, the Austrian Embassy Athens and the Municipality of Kalymnos. The audience’s enthusiastic applause signified the beginning of a memorable journey that continued in Lipsi and Patmos.

A sensational two-part performance on 19 August took the audience of Volos on a remarkable journey across musical eras and genres. The first part entitled "Minnelied", emphasised on love as an enduring human emotion that does not change over time. Under the starry sky and the majestic peristyle of the Archaeological Museum of Volos, acclaimed Austria-based artists Anastasios Strikos and Nikolas Spanos together with Greek virtuosi Giorgos Tsiardakas brought profound mastery and emotion to a demanding repertoire ranging from the Classical and Romantic masters to modern Greek composers. For the second part, "Songs of Love Beneath the Starry Sky", Volos-based musician Vasilis Agrokostas delivered beloved songs by Hadjidakis, Theodorakis and Plessas creating a bridge between the centuries, with amazing vocals, the flute, and piano meeting literature, myth, and nature.

We thank our dedicated local organizers and partners Friends of the Athanasakeion Archaeological Museum of Volos, Ephorate of Antiquities of Magnesia, Lyceum of Greek Women of Volos and the Region of Thessaly/Subregion of Magnesia and look forward to returning next year for a new musical dialogue with the warm audience of Volos!
