Theano G., Athens (2026)

After completing her studies at the AUTH University of Fine Arts, in the department of Visual and Applied Arts in 2016, she exhibited her first professional pieces at the Gallery Zina Athanassiadou and the Macedonian Museum of Art. In 2019 she won the Indonesian Scholarship Darmasiswa and completed her studies in ISI Yogyakarta, majored in traditional puppetry. Through the years her artworks have

been presented in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and cultural institutes in Europe and Asia and she has participated in art seminars and residency programs as well.

“Οι Βυθισμένοι Ορυζώνες”

💭 Λίγες σκέψεις για το έργο:
Αυτό το έργο κουβαλάει μια βαθιά προσωπική εμπειρία. Το δημιούργησα στην Ινδονησία, κατά τη διάρκεια της πανδημίας, σε μια περίοδο όπου αισθανόμουν εγκλωβισμένη. Αντιμέτωπη με τις πιο ευάλωτες πλευρές μου, αλλά και με μια εσωτερική αντοχή που δεν ήξερα ότι είχα, άρχισα να βλέπω τον εαυτό μου μέσα στο κορίτσι του έργου. Κάθε μέρα ήταν μια δοκιμασία επιμονής και υπομονής.

Η καθοριστική αλλαγή ήρθε όταν ταξίδεψα στο Sulawesi και άκουσα έναν αρχαίο θρύλο για τον πρώτο άνθρωπο στη Βόρεια Minahasa. Λένε πως γεννήθηκε από την πέτρα, ήταν γυναίκα και το όνομά της ήταν Karema. Η ιστορία της μίλησε βαθιά μέσα μου. Η πέτρα, ως στοιχείο μνήμης, δύναμης και αντοχής, κουβαλάει το παρελθόν και, ακόμη κι αν θρυμματιστεί, ξαναγεννιέται από τη σκόνη. Η Karema έγινε για μένα σύμβολο θηλυκής δύναμης — σταθερή αλλά μεταμορφωτική, ανθεκτική αλλά ζωντανή.

Μέσα από αυτό το έργο, αναλογίζομαι τη θηλυκότητα όχι ως κάτι εύθραυστο, αλλά ως μια αστείρευτη πηγή σοφίας, υπομονής και επανεκκίνησης. Όπως η Karema γεννήθηκε από την πέτρα, έτσι και η θηλυκή ταυτότητα μπορεί να πηγάζει από τον πόνο, την αντοχή και τη μνήμη, μετατρέποντας το τραύμα σε δύναμη και τη σιωπή σε φωνή.

Στο πλαίσιο του HERizons, αυτό το έργο είναι μια αναγνώριση της διαρκούς μεταμόρφωσης που φέρει η θηλυκότητα — όχι ως μία μονοδιάστατη έννοια, αλλά ως μια δύναμη που επιμένει και αναγεννάται.
