DIVA - Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts

DIVA - Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts, a project co-funded by the Creative Europe Cooperation Grants is coming to an end.

Two amazing years, filled with creative activities, sharing of knowledge and empowering a group of performers from Greece, Poland and Portugal to move on with their careers in the performing arts despite any and all adversities.

ΘΕΑΜΑ Συμπεριληπτικό Θέατρο - Theama Inclusive Theatre led this project with partners from Poland Bielskie Stowarzyszenie Artystyczne "Teatr Grodzki" based in the beautiful city of Bielsko-Biala, and from Portugal Gato Escaldado from Lisbon. The cooperation among the partners was amazing and this is obvious from all the brilliant work produced.

Artistic Directors Guide to Inclusive Theatre

The creative team of the project D.I.V.A – Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts from THEAMA-Inclusive Theatre, Teatr Grodzki and Teatro Gato Escaldado have collectively created an e-book, where their creative processes have been recorded.
The activities that led up to the production of the Digital Filmed Performance and the stage Live Performances in Lisbon. Bielsko-Biala and Athens, the Methodologies of the Artistic Directors involved by each partner have been meticulously recorded to provide a Guide for inclusion and accessibility in the performing arts.
Special chapters address the issues of empowering performers, disabled and non-disabled to thrive in an all-inclusive environment and a final chapter is dedicated to the importance of access services in theatres.

A total of 30 performers contributed in the production of the Digital Filmed Performance and the Live Performances of Trojan Women, the creative part of the project DIVA - Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts, co-funded by Creative Europe. THEAMA, Teatr Grodzki and Teatro Gato Escaldado as partners participated with 10 performers each.

“The Trojan Women” in Athens at the Rematias Theatre of Chalandri on 13/09/2024, part of the Solidarity Festival of Chalandri received a heartfelt welcome by the 600 and more persons in the audience.

The performance is part of the project DIVA - Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts, co-funded by Creative Europe, concluded its circle pf live performances in Lisbon, Bielsko-Biala, and Athens.
Mobilising 28 actors to travel and perform in 3 cities across the continent, was a feat of coordination, planning and hard work.

The D.I.V.A. team extends its appreciation to the Creative Europe, the funding programme established by the European Union to support the cultural, creative, and audiovisual sectors across Europe. Without their financial support and ongoing guidance none of these would be possible!

“The Trojan Women” are coming to Athens!

The play will be staged in the framework of the Rematia Festival, in the Rematia Theatre of Chalandri on 13/09/2024 at 21:00 with FREE entrance for the public, under the auspices of the Chalandri Municipality.

The performance is part of the project DIVA - Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts, co-funded by Creative Europe, and has already been performed live in Lisbon, Bielsko-Biala, and its final performance will be in Athens.

THEAMA – Inclusive Theatre Greece / Teatr Grodzki Poland / Teatro Gato Escaldado Portugal have coproduced the play the stage performance with over 28 actors on stage from all 3 countries involved. This is a ‘must-see’ performance, a feat of coordination effort in production for an inclusive performance with disabled and non-disabled actors.

Full accessibility services are provided with subtitles in Greek and English, Greek Sign Language interpreting, Audio Description, Tactile Tour and dubbing into Greek for the dialogues in Polish and Portuguese.

"The Trojan Women"

The project DIVA - Diversity, Inclusion and Visibility in Arts, co-funded by Creative Europe, will perform live today in Bielsko-Biala (Poland), the play Trojan Women, an elegy to peace, a feminist approach to the evil of wars.
THEAMA – Inclusive Theatre Greece / Teatr Grodzki Poland / Teatro Gato Escaldado Portugal are currently working to produce a stage performance with over 26 actors on stage for all 3 countries involved. A feat of coordination effort in production for an inclusive performance with disabled and non-disabled actors.

Official premiere today,, 25th August, 2024 - 6pm at the Teatr Polski!
Yesterday, our first performance as a media general rehearsal open to the public was a great success!

Ofiary współczesych wojen są tak samo bezbronne jak kobiety w Troi, które stały się łupem zwycięskich Achajów.
