Panayiota Anatolian Greek Dance
Tune in TONIGHT to learn more about Greek bellydance. In the oriental/bellydance world it is NOT only Arab dance or Raqs Sharqi or Turkish dance. We the Anatolian Greeks have always been here and will continue to be here.
Dont confuse the word Raqs Sharqi as being Arab Dance. Learn the translation. This simply means and translates to Eastern Dance. Raqs Sharqi = Eastern Dance. One of the terms we Greeks/Hellenes use is Anatolitikos Horos/Anatolian dance. What does this translate to? Take a wild.guess... Eastern Dance. You see ;)

The east is not only home to the Arabs. It is home for many of us who either live in present day Arabic speaking lands OR in non Arabic speaking lands. There are several and many other tribes and ethnicities. This concept unfortunately is not even understood by many fellow native MENAHTs. Let's not forget your Greek/Hellenic brothers and sisters. When native Arabic speakers ask about my roots, I say "Ana Yunania Sharqia" OR "Sharqia Yunania" .... as you hear me say often Anatolian Greek. And what does Anatolia translate to, East. Anatolian Greeks and mainland Greeks are very very very different. My roots are from Northern & Southern Anatolia. Anatolia referencing to present day Turkey. Our flag is not only the blue and white Greek flag. We have another flag in the color of yellow, with either a two headed eagle or one headed eagle.

Thanks so much to the MENAHT Bellydanxe Festival, an amazing international Bellydance festival that had a major line up of stars from our industry. Thanks so much to the organizers and founders for inviting me as a guest speaker. I appreciate and respect the fact that they have included native MENAHT artists in their lineup. It was truly an honor and pleasure. I love sharing my knowledge and heritage to our global bellydance field.

RIP 🇪🇬 Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the BIGGEST legend of Egyptian dance, and one of our teachers Ustez Mahmoud Reda. The Father of Egyptian arts. He leaves behind a huge legacy not only for the oriental and folk dancers but the whole world. We are very upset, NO words! You are dancing in the heavens now 💔😭🇬🇷🇪🇬
