WHY WE PERSIST
At "Theatriki Lysi - Dromoi Technis" (28-30 Paramythias Street, Kerameikos) and the "Paramythias Theatre" in the center of Athens, we remain romantic and deeply human. We still believe that theatre belongs to everyone, that good will defeat evil, that togetherness will beat loneliness, and that kindness will conquer cruelty.
The Greek word Paramythia comes from the ancient verb paramythoumai (from para + mythos, meaning word or story). Originally, it meant standing next to someone and talking to them to give them courage, advice, or comfort. This is exactly what we continue to believe. We have kept this faith alive since 1994 as the Paramythias Theatre, and since 2015 as Theatriki Lysi - Dromoi Technis. We stand strong in these times of isolation, fighting against the cold white glow of our phone screens, and even against the boring color beige.
We are maximalists fighting against modern minimalism. That is why we created a space filled with every color imaginable. Here, every table tells a different story, and we promise that every time you visit, you will discover a brand new corner.
At "Theatriki Lysi - Dromoi Technis", the stage blends into the audience. It keeps you company while you enjoy your coffee or drink, always served with Sofia's homemade food! And because creativity is a form of healing and personal expression, our karaoke nights are our way of resisting, escaping, and letting off steam.
At the "Paramythias Theatre", hosting, supporting, and promoting artistic groups and professional theatre companies has always been the core of our values. That is why we are opening a call to any team that wants to showcase its work.
Let us keep theatre, as an idea and an act, open to the needs of every human being. Because art, by nature, belongs to the whole world.
