Some milestones in my career:
1987: First VFX work (as assistant Harry artist), Rushes London, with Director Tony Kaye for award winning “Solid Fuel” TVC. I used the first Harry ever made with a Disk memory of 2 minutes.
1990: First solo VFX job, (as Harry artist), Rushes London, for Ridley Scott the first Vodafone TVC ever made. Racal Telecom rebranded themselves as Vodafone and the commercial
had a budget of more than £1,000,000.
1992: At MPC London I Completed VFX on the U2 Music Video “ Even Better than the Real Thing” directed by Kevin Godley. It won 3 American MTV awards including “Best Special Effects in a Music Video”, “Best Group Video” and “People’s Choice”. It was a landmark video for U2, backing up the Album "Achtung Baby" and showing Bono for the first time as "The Fly" his Zoo TV persona. Bono came to the Harry Suite several times and supervised my adding of his face to fly cut-outs for the video himself.
1995: Greek Astra Advertising & Production awards. 2 Years after moving to Greece I personally completed post on more than half of the 100 short listed TVCs.
2008: Whiskers Post Production completed all post for the feature films “El Greco” and “Fishtales”. This included more than 100 VFX shots & grading the 2K DI for international Cinema prints. During the post production of "El Greco" I had the pleasure of Vangelis (Oscar winner for Chariots of Fire and the composer for Ridley Scott's amazing Blade Runner), visiting my VFX suite, giving his input for the VFX in order to best complement his soundtrack. My inspiration for my VFX work is Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" (1982), for the much copied art direction as well as great SFX. It is my hope to continue to enjoy the ever increasing challenges of the Film and TV industry as technology continues to offer me better solutions and also to keep Directing one or two projects a year!
