Amoukanama was founded in 2017 and was born from the desire of Ballamoussa Bangoura and his childhood friend Alseny Sacko to change the situation of youngsters in their neighborhood in Conakry. After meeting Nathalie in 2015 in France at the equestrian show Tagadart, heir common passion for circus brought them to Guinea to train. The perseverance, optimism and generosity of these acrobats were so

striking that, back, Nathalie succeeded in arousing the enthusiasm of the Flemish government to support the first stages of an ambitious project, the construction of a geodesic dome in Guinea. As a place of training, education, exchange, encounter and creativity. In the meantime, Ballamoussa begins with his partner Elvia to build a network in Canada. For several years now, we have been working in Guinea (And Europe and Canada) with children and young people through the circus to encourage them to develop their talents. Through a universal language of movement and expression, we bring cultures together and put humanity in front. We focus on constructive communication on young Africans and thus want to help build a diverse society where people are not judged on the basis of their origin, social status, gender, color of skin. Amoukanama a été fondée en 2017 et est née du désir de Ballamoussa Bangoura et de son ami d'enfance Alseny Sacko de changer la situation des jeunes dans leur quartier de Conakry. Après la rencontre avec Nathalie en 2015 en France à Tagadart spectacle équestre, leur passion commune pour le cirque les a amenés en Guinée pour s’entraîner avec les jeunes acrobates. La persévérance, l'optimisme et la générosité de ces acrobates étaient si frappants que, de retour, Nathalie réussit à susciter l'enthousiasme du gouvernement Flamande pour soutenir les premiers étapes d’un projet ambitieux, la construction d’un dôme géodésique en Guinée comme lieu de formation, échange, rencontre et créativité. Entre-temps, Ballamoussa commence avec sa partenaire Elvia, de construire un réseau au Canada. Depuis plusieurs années maintenant, nous travaillons en Guinée (Et Europe et Canada) avec les enfants et les jeunes à travers le cirque pour les encourager à développer leurs talents. À travers un langage universel de mouvement et d'expression, nous rassemblons les cultures et mettons l'humanité devant. Nous nous concentrons sur une communication constructive sur les jeunes africains et voulons ainsi contribuer à construire une société diversifiée où les gens ne sont pas jugés sur la base de leur origine, de leur statut social, de leur sexe, de leur couleur de peau. Our Story

Amoukanama, which means "cannot break" in the susu language, is born from the love between two people, bridging culture, language and life visions. When Nathalie and Alseny met in 2015 during a tour, they fell in love which resulted in a travel from Nathalie to Guinea to train with the acrobats. It is there that she discovered the lion hearts in the slums of Guinea, working hard every day to follow their 'brothers' who had traveled to other countries to perform and work as circus artist. Lots of persons dreamed of a real circus school, but there had yet to come a reliable team and a possibility to make it happen. Nathalie returned to Europe with a spark in her heart that attracted enough other persons to start believing in the feasibility of the project. Wereldhuis Roeselare, Belgium stepped up as first partner and so when travelling back to Guinea in 2017, Amoukanama was legally founded in Guinea, a big piece of land was bought and the team got reinforced with more people. Now, we are busy with drawing and sketching the building, with engineers and architects, while looking for more partners and sponsors to make the construction possible and for everyone who is willing to contribute ideas, material, sponsoring, possibilities to cooperate...?
