The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted temporary approval for The Gambia’s Independence Stadium, following an inspection conducted on Wednesday, 9th April.

In a letter to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) dated 11th April, CAF acknowledged notable improvements to the stadium's pitch and approved the hosting of two upcoming matches: the CHAN 2024 second-round qualifier against Algeria and the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup first-round qualifier against Côte d'Ivoire.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has reportedly withdrawn security officers assigned to all magistrates in The Gambia, except for Principal Magistrates. This decision has prompted plans for a potential sit-down strike by magistrates, according to sources.

A magistrate, speaking to Kerr Fatou on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the withdrawal was justified by the IGP’s office as a measure to address manpower shortages and enhance border security due to the porous nature of the country’s borders. The move also reportedly affects all former vice presidents and certain politicians previously provided with security personnel.

Police Public Relations Officer Cadet ASP Modou Musa Sisawo confirmed the withdrawal of officers attached to magistrates but declined to comment on the status of former vice presidents and political figures.

A 30-year-old truck driver, Mamuda Sallah, has been charged with reckless driving after the tragic accident on January 4th in Kafuta, which killed four people and injured 24 others.

Sallah, who was reportedly driving in poor visibility with brake failure, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a crowd of jubilant football fans. "It all happened so fast, we didn't see it coming," said one eyewitness.

Sallah pleaded not guilty in court, and the prosecution has requested the case be transferred to the High Court due to the severity of the offense. He remains in custody pending further proceedings.

Breaking: A tragic incident occurred in Kafuta, The Gambia, where a truck driver crashed into a crowd of football fans, claiming the lives of two young girls, aged 7 and 8, and injuring dozens.

The injured were transported to the Brikama Health Post for medical treatment. Reports suggest that the truck's faulty brakes and inadequate lighting may have been contributing factors to the accident.

BREAKING: Awa Gambia has fired her manager, Ali Wally.

In a press statement, Mr. Wally acknowledged receipt of a formal termination letter from Awa Gambia on Friday, January 3.

"I Ali Wally acknowledge receipt of a formal termination letter from Awa Gambia on Friday, January 3rd, 2025, ending my tenure as her manager.

"While this marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in my career, I remain deeply proud of the remarkable milestones we achieved together during our partnership," the statement reads.

Reflecting on their partnership, Wally expressed pride in the milestones achieved, including the release of Awa Gambia's debut album, 'Taking Over', in 2022 and her groundbreaking success at the Wahk Sa Halat Award, where she became the first female artist to win both Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.

I hereby share with you a scammer to be careful of guy
After remitting all these funds through 3 of his accomplices, he is nowhere to be found online or any contacts.
We reported the case to the police station

He is still at large....
according to the accomplices, they claimed he is in Bissau, some said he’s in Dakar.
He is using multiple SIM cards that he used to deceive people.

We have come to understand that he is having similar reported cases at different stations with regard to visas and duping young boys so that he can assist them in getting visas to Europe.

So please be alert that now some of our own Gambian brothers in Gambia are the ones scamming the vulnerable poor ones at home.....
