THE ARTS ACADEMY PARTICIPATES IN THE VALIDATION OF THE GAMBIA'S CREATIVE INDUSTRY STRATEGIC ROADMAP

The Arts Academy, the first art school in The Gambia, was honored to participate in the validation of the Creative Industry Strategic Roadmap held at the Senegambia Hotel.

Representing the institution was its CEO, Abdou Bah, who joined government representatives, development partners, and key stakeholders from across the creative sector to review and validate the draft roadmap.

The roadmap was developed through an extensive consultative process led by the International Trade Centre under the EU-funded Youth Empowerment Project Tourism and Creative Industries Programme. The five-year initiative (2024–2029), valued at approximately D728 million (EUR 10 million), aims to strengthen the competitiveness, inclusiveness, and sustainability of The Gambia's tourism and creative industries while creating employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, particularly for youth and women.

The validation session provided stakeholders with the opportunity to review the draft roadmap, make recommendations, and collectively shape a strategic framework that will guide the growth and transformation of The Gambia's creative industry over the coming years.

The Arts Academy commends ITC, the European Union, and all stakeholders involved in this landmark initiative and reaffirms its commitment to nurturing talent, promoting creativity, and contributing to the development of a vibrant and sustainable creative economy in The Gambia.

Together, we are shaping the future of The Gambia's creative industry.

The Arts Academy, recognized as the first art school in The Gambia, yesterday welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Embassy led by Song in what both parties described as a promising step toward cultural partnership and institutional collaboration.

The visit aimed at giving the Chinese Embassy firsthand insight into the impactful work and creative development initiatives being championed by the Arts Academy across the country. During the engagement, the delegation toured the institution, interacted with members of the academy, and explored ongoing artistic and educational programs focused on youth empowerment, creativity, and social transformation through art.

Discussions between the two sides centered on possible areas of partnership and collaboration, particularly in advancing arts education, cultural exchange, and capacity building opportunities for tourism and young Gambian artists.

According to officials of the academy, the meeting was not merely ceremonial but highly productive and action-oriented, with both sides expressing commitment toward practical steps that could strengthen cooperation between the Chinese Embassy and the Arts Academy in the near future.

The visit marks a significant milestone for the Arts Academy as it continues to gain recognition for its role in promoting art, culture, and creative education in The Gambia.
