For the ‘Traces of Humanity’ exhibition at I have produced a Triptych and a 3D model. The triptych explores the fluctuating coastal shelf of Gibraltar through time, anchored at Gorham’s Cave. The top panel presents the Rock of Gibraltar in daylight, a geological constant framing Gotham’s Cave within layered limestone cliffs. The second panel shifts to sunset, where warm light transforms the cave and surrounding rock, emphasizing erosion, shadow, and human scale. The third panel departs from representation into an artist’s impression: a sculptural map of the coastal shelf, tracing erosion, sea-level change, and movement over ninety thousand years. Together, the panels connect observation, atmosphere, and deep time, revealing Gibraltar’s coast as an evolving geological narrative.
