*June 4, 1979: A Day That Changed Ghana Forever*

There are moments in a nation’s history that people never forget. For Ghana, June 4, 1979, is one of those days. It was a time when many ordinary citizens felt unheard. Prices were rising, hardship was real, and trust in leadership was fading. On the streets and in homes, people spoke quietly about corruption, frustration, and an uncertain future.

Amid that tension, a young group of soldiers led by Jerry John Rawlings stepped forward, challenging the military government headed by Fred Akuffo.
What followed was not just a change of leadership; it was a shockwave through the entire nation. The Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) took control and emphasized discipline, accountability, and system cleanup.

For some Ghanaians, it felt like a moment of hope, as if someone had finally addressed the frustration many had carried silently for years. For others, it brought fear, uncertainty, and deep concern about the path the country was taking.

And even today, decades later, June 4 is not just history written in books. It is memory, emotion, debate, and reflection. It reminds Ghana of a painful truth: when trust between leaders and citizens breaks down, a nation can change in ways no one fully expects.

June 4 is still remembered not as a simple event, but as a moment that tested the soul of a country and shaped the direction of its democracy.

I am conducting a study on public perceptions of women’s political participation in Ghana. I would appreciate your support, as my participants must be Ghanaians.

I need at least 80 participants to complete this study, which is also an academic requirement for my semester. Your participation would mean a lot.

Please if you are 18 years or older and identify as Ghanaian, kindly take a few minutes to complete this survey. It takes few minutes, and all responses are anonymous and confidential.

Your honest opinion will be very valuable to this study.

Survey ends 7pm Ghana 🇬🇭 time today, so please do well to take it if you want to contribute to the academic research on Gender & Political Leadership.

SEVEN THINGS I WILL TELL MY DAUGHTER BEFORE THEY MARRY.

God did not design only one specific person for you. When people leave your life, accept it and move forward without bitterness. (Genesis 2:18)

Choosing a partner is also your responsibility. You must be intentional in your search and decision. (Proverbs 18:22)

Often, you meet your partner within the environment you are in. Thankfully, social media has expanded those opportunities. Pray about it, but also remain open and receptive.

Marriage is ultimately about purpose, not just feelings or romance. (Genesis 2:18)

If you struggle with strong desires, marriage is honorable, “it is better to marry than to burn.” (1 Corinthians 7:9)

Look for someone who is spiritually, emotionally, and financially mature.

Build friendship first. Don’t rush into dating — know the person, observe their character, and then choose wisely.
