It was dinner time at the Mensah's. Today might probably be the last dinner Mr Mensah will have with his children. There was a quietness quieter than the cemetery with only cutlery 🍴 and ceramic doing the talking. The marriage had had its fair share of fatal blows and tonight seemed less normal. Sitting in the midst of the table set, a brown envelope puffed up with notes of legal terms scribbled on several pages in it lay quietly only moved by the old wrinkled ceiling fan that coughed as it blows.

The tension could be cut into block size pieces. Their two children stealing little glances, knowing deep within them that they were the last string that held their parents' marriage together. They looked on.

Finally, he was fed up and he broke out. "Will you sign those papers and stop the outrageous dramatic scenes you are rolling Ama" said Mr Mensah to his wife he had married for over 15 years.
"Can't you see? This is over. The sooner you sign the divorce papers the better for all us. Look you can have the house, the car and the joint account but I keep the kids"

Ama looked disturbed. All these nights of prayer, all the time spent with her kids, all those sacrifices. Nonetheless she kept on eating and serving her husband's plate.

He couldn't take it anymore and as he was getting up, Ama fell to the ground heavily and was foaming at the mouth. Ama had committed su***de, she drugged herself. Other than take the shame of a broken home as a deaconess in her local church, she chose to die. Leaving two sad kids and a now distraught husband who held his wife and wailed on the floor of the house.

BROKEN HOMES...YOU WOULDN'T EXPECT THE WORST UNTIL IT HAPPENS. LET CHRIST STEER THE BOAT. INVOLVE HIM IN YOUR MARRIAGE AND LIFE NOW!!

JESUS IS ALL YOU NEED!!!

At the bus stop he held fast to his suitcase and climbed in. The long walk had taken a toll on him and wiping his face he glanced on his cracked wrist watch and saw that he had just 13 minutes left on his break. His foreman had warned him two times already concerning his delays to work after the lunch break from wherever he usually goes. This was his third strike if he was late again.

Frank Miller was a graduate from the federal college and finished among the top of his class yet had struggled to get a good job since leaving school. It's been four years now and he is now a brick layer for the new stadia projects' construction firm.

Luck eluded him this time and he was late. Foreman didn't think twice about saying "you are fired" and off he went back to his miserable jobless life. The journey back home was horrendous with thoughts of how he would handle the "blasts" from his parents. He was a failure, he was a disgrace, those words were what he heard even as a brick layer and now it will be worse.

Miller had a fallout with his father and he left home that night with the failure tag around his neck. Miller is now the area pimp!

WHEN WE LIFT UP OUR HANDS

Everyone were on their feet. The sweet aroma of songs from the worship team could testify to the cloud of Glory in the room.

All hands were lifted, tears rolling down and not many left standing. I was in the left aisle on the balcony and peeping a little, my eyes couldn't keep off a little boy.

His mother had lifted up her hands and was all engulfed in worship of the King of Kings. The boy other than learn from the adults kept on pulling the skirt of his mother as he stood. All his motions could not for once persuade the mother to pay attention to him. The mother at a point hit the son's hand in his defiance to let the mother have peace to worship. After minutes of this, she(the mother) finally looked at her son who lifted up his arms ready for the flight. She took him up and gave him the attention he needed. The mother also continued to worship.

As I looked on the Holy Spirit said to me. Do you know who you are? You are the woman who always lifts her hand to me but cares little about her act of worship to the world around her. Service to the people around you sometimes may seem distractive as you perceive you have little time to worship God.
The Holy Spirit again said to me, Do you know who I want you to be?
I want you to be the little boy. Never stop seeking my presence, never stop calling on me. Even when it seems I'm quiet, never stop. Even when it seems you are worrying everyone, keep your eyes fixed on me.

As he pulled the chair to sit. He slipped, only to find the bouquet of the now withering flowers underneath the bed. Distraught as he was, his eyes could at least hold back the ready-to-burst fountain of tears.

It had been a few months since Charlene had her last chemotherapy. She was in no mood to receive "pity" as she termed it from anyone. She had reached the peak of her career and was beginning to fulfill her life's dreams until that awful illness. She blamed the whole world and that had affected her marriage to Jeremy.

Jeremy always said a prayer by her bedside and still left with tears as she didn't want to even speak to him. She always cried out in agony when he left the room. So much pain......yet,

It was just time for the Doctor's rounds. Jeremy knew he couldn't afford another Chemo session and hoped that this time around the Doctor carried good news.
Doctor came and delivered in a bombshell. Yes Charlene has to put her house in order for the cancer has reached a stage beyond therapy.
Doctor was expecting Charlene or Jeremy to show something, but this was the 1st time Charlene sat up on the bed and held her husband's hands.
Jeremy with so much tears now had to be consoled by his wife.
The doctor just couldn't stand the scene but left quietly.

Charlene looked into Jeremy's eyes and asked. Does God even care or does he listen? She quietly lay down after asking this question.
Jeremy knew the illness had taken the faith out of his wife and he wasn't himself all believing anymore and that made him cry the more.

He stood up, closed the drapes, shut the door and quietly sobbing said in a loud voice in the room..."Charlene we need Jesus"!!!

Charlene knew it was time to surrender......

HOPE CRAWLS! HOPE SPEAKS!!

The pastor had escorted them inside to where they had to sign the documents. In the auditorium however, people were still dancing and the lock of friends merrily letting out songs as if to show how elated they were another of their "boys" has sold his rights. Parents and elders alike couldn't just seat. The jubilations would be taken into the dark night they presumed.

At the sound of the Mc, "let's all with the uttermost reverence welcome Mr and Mrs Dolce", they walked in with all pomp and radiance. Glittering and sliding across the polished marble floor of this Sentinel Palace, a place that wiped half of his savings, the couple danced. Roses are red, skies are blue, the eyes of the many still kept in Wonderland.

You should want to know a bit about my couple! Robby Dolce had been an assistant professor in the medical school when he saw Solace Frey who caught his eye. They dated for roughly 7 months and on the 8th month had this beautiful wedding. The two were great friends from the little time they saw each other and served in the local church on the corner of the street at Hasbro Lane. Their love for service was unrivalled among their fellow medical practitioners. They will help the church give free medical help to the needy and all. Finally a perfect couple!

Marriage was sweet and it was the best thing that had happened to them or so to say. Solace took seek after 3 years in the marriage and was but all elated as Robby as she didn't really want to delay the progress in her wonderful career.

Should we call it destiny or fate or sheer antenatal negligence? Call it whatever name you deem fit but there was a complication with the pregnancy in the 7th month. The baby had to be forced out and put on life support. The little girl would become the storm that will test the strength of the love boat.

When the baby was 15 months, she couldn't make any sound nor even crawl. This was the biggest news to hit Hasbro lane. They had hoped for months to see progress but experts had tried it all. They had to care for a baby that will make them cry all the time.
Solace wasn't fun anymore, Robby hardly stayed home, a nanny was hired to care for the child. The marriage was on the rocks. Solace found solace in the whisky bottles and was hardly sober. Robby didn't want to see the baby nor even harbor the thought of the child.

Night after night, solace drank in her sorrows will cry over the cot of her baby. The baby will just watch, no sound! Robby tried to hide his disappointments. He loved his wife but why would she give birth to a breathing stone. He couldn't bare the shame and always left the house very early and came back very late.

One night Solace met him at the door and started crying. She blamed him and put her frustrations out on him. She said, "Robby just look at her for once, carry her in your arms, let her see her daddy's face, let her feel your touch you coward". Robby just couldn't look at the child.
It's been 2 years and 6 months now and the couple just couldn't hold on. Solace wanted to take her life and end it all. She thought that was the only way out. She took the sharpest knife in the kitchen and decided to end the baby's miserable life and hers too. As she leaned over on the cot, humming a lullaby and sobbing she lifted her hands to thrust the knife into the innocent child when Robby held her hand.
They struggled in the room over the knife. They kept on struggling over the knife for minutes and Robby finally pushed her. She knocked over the baby cot unaware and the little child hit the floor. Solace got up and rushed on Robby, overpowered him and almost stabbed him when they both stopped at the sound of a small voice. A laughter from a drooling clapping little girl who had crawled in front of her parents. She crawled further sat on her butt and clapped one more time still laughing.

Both Robby and Solace already worn out sat on the floor and stared at their child. The little girl clapped the more and burped out something that sounded like "MAMA".
Did she just speak? Robby asked. This time it came out better...MAMA!! Solace rushed to her baby and for the 1st time after almost 3 years she broke a smile.

Our biggest regrets often show up when we don't see our aspirations and dreams come to life as we play it out in our head.
You start a business, you settle down, you have your 1st child, in the beginning it may be still and not show any sign of development. It may not speak or show life. Don't give up. Though it may delay, you will surely hear the sound, you will surely see it move. Hang on! Don't kill yourself! Hope in hope.

Remember Hope crawls, Hope speaks!

I LOVE HER, I LET HER GO

"Mike, would you carefully place the vase on the stand please. I don't want anything to spoil my beautiful designs and that piece is a vital part of it". She said this as I helped her out with the finishing touches to her spectacular decor in readiness for her brother's engagement party.

Regan and I, carefully put, are "studying ourselves" at least that's how she refers to us. We have been quite close since our university days and now that we are both working it seems very much in order that we cap it with our very own love story.

I've had the box in my bag the whole week, waiting for the right moment to pop the question and how appropriate that will be in front of her family as she says yes. In my fantasy world it still needs a little detail and the real world is not different. The only final and necessary ingredients required for this mission is Regan herself and her time which has eluded me all week in her family house.

As I sat on the balcony and watched from afar how she was engulfed in the organization, mehn I love her the more but there was something missing. I thought hard as I gently stoke the ring in my hand. "Waiting to ask the question huh"? Oh my God, Mike, hahaha I'm so happy for you.
Yes her mother had caught on to my intentions and yes was now standing by me. How reckless could I have been?

She said "look Mike, I'd be honored to be your mother in law but you must be certain it's her you love and not for any other satisfactory reasons. I know my daughter is quite a handful so just be sure" and she left the balcony. I thought hard and hard for sometime and boom I got it.

Whole family gathered around for dinner and the duck stew was off the chain even though I felt it was a bit too tender anyway it was lovely. At the far end of the table I kept getting winks from Regan's mum and a hand gestures that suggested that I ask. Apparently my would be brother in law was also doing same. Regan's mum had squealed to almost everyone.

I got up from my seat, cleared my throat and called her name. She looked at me and our eyes locked then I delivered my speech. I said, Regan we have been close for some years and each year we draw more closer. I have relished for the day that you'd be mine for ever. Your eyes tell me of the wondrous tales we will tell in later years to our children. Regan will you make me the most fulfilled man on earth and be my bride? I was at this time on my knees waiting with a bright face and broad smile.

She looked at me intently pulled up her left arm and showed her ring finger and there it was, another ring. "Mike I said yes a week ago, she said".
You must understand that at this time I was already sitting on the floor with head in between my legs.

Regan continued, "Mike, you are so full of yourself. How many times have you not simply ignored me. You claim you love me yet I seem to you a lady in waiting to be groomed by the perfectionist Mike until I meet your standards. Well while you were busy making me aware of my flaws and working on them to suit your class, I found love. He made me understand that I don't have to be perfect and that accepting to hook up with flaws and working on them proved ones love the more. I am his perfect bride. Sorry but I can't be your bride. Go and create for yourself the befitting bride and please don't look down on her.

Shattered, I bolted out of the house. I let her go, by my actions I caused this. In our flaws she still loved me. Love should be like that, it is unconditional.

As I was moping in the fields, she hanged her arms around me and said "I think he has already proposed to you too, please say yes to him and let him in. His name is Jesus. Mike I love you and I want to be your bride but you must love him too."

The joy was indescribable. The whole family hugged the both of us as I put my ring on her finger after taking off her mum's ring. Lol

Jesus loves you no matter your flaws. I loved Regan and so I let her go to Jesus. We are getting married in a few months time. You are invited.

Ma faults are plenty but when I see how hope breaks silence and love shatters the argument and mercy stages a coup and Grace magnifies my chances, my God right there I know It's been You all along.
What can make a man cry is nearly not about his struggles and inconsistencies nor his defiant slow nature nor his absolute lack of self preservation nor his permanent disabilities, what can make a man cry is when he realises he's unable to do nothing but things are working for his good.
I love you Lord!! It's been all YOU😢

Starry dusts. It's entrails brightening up the deep black sea. Its momentum for dazzling is innate and not concocted. Oh fetch the last brew of its reflection, serve the elders and bring forth the royal entertainers. Let the crowds searching for an answer not be bewildered but engulfed in a cacophony of each others smile. Oh I pray that the night lasts a bit longer for my eyes still daze underneath your starry skies.
