HOPE CRAWLS! HOPE SPEAKS!!
The pastor had escorted them inside to where they had to sign the documents. In the auditorium however, people were still dancing and the lock of friends merrily letting out songs as if to show how elated they were another of their "boys" has sold his rights. Parents and elders alike couldn't just seat. The jubilations would be taken into the dark night they presumed.
At the sound of the Mc, "let's all with the uttermost reverence welcome Mr and Mrs Dolce", they walked in with all pomp and radiance. Glittering and sliding across the polished marble floor of this Sentinel Palace, a place that wiped half of his savings, the couple danced. Roses are red, skies are blue, the eyes of the many still kept in Wonderland.
You should want to know a bit about my couple! Robby Dolce had been an assistant professor in the medical school when he saw Solace Frey who caught his eye. They dated for roughly 7 months and on the 8th month had this beautiful wedding. The two were great friends from the little time they saw each other and served in the local church on the corner of the street at Hasbro Lane. Their love for service was unrivalled among their fellow medical practitioners. They will help the church give free medical help to the needy and all. Finally a perfect couple!
Marriage was sweet and it was the best thing that had happened to them or so to say. Solace took seek after 3 years in the marriage and was but all elated as Robby as she didn't really want to delay the progress in her wonderful career.
Should we call it destiny or fate or sheer antenatal negligence? Call it whatever name you deem fit but there was a complication with the pregnancy in the 7th month. The baby had to be forced out and put on life support. The little girl would become the storm that will test the strength of the love boat.
When the baby was 15 months, she couldn't make any sound nor even crawl. This was the biggest news to hit Hasbro lane. They had hoped for months to see progress but experts had tried it all. They had to care for a baby that will make them cry all the time.
Solace wasn't fun anymore, Robby hardly stayed home, a nanny was hired to care for the child. The marriage was on the rocks. Solace found solace in the whisky bottles and was hardly sober. Robby didn't want to see the baby nor even harbor the thought of the child.
Night after night, solace drank in her sorrows will cry over the cot of her baby. The baby will just watch, no sound! Robby tried to hide his disappointments. He loved his wife but why would she give birth to a breathing stone. He couldn't bare the shame and always left the house very early and came back very late.
One night Solace met him at the door and started crying. She blamed him and put her frustrations out on him. She said, "Robby just look at her for once, carry her in your arms, let her see her daddy's face, let her feel your touch you coward". Robby just couldn't look at the child.
It's been 2 years and 6 months now and the couple just couldn't hold on. Solace wanted to take her life and end it all. She thought that was the only way out. She took the sharpest knife in the kitchen and decided to end the baby's miserable life and hers too. As she leaned over on the cot, humming a lullaby and sobbing she lifted her hands to thrust the knife into the innocent child when Robby held her hand.
They struggled in the room over the knife. They kept on struggling over the knife for minutes and Robby finally pushed her. She knocked over the baby cot unaware and the little child hit the floor. Solace got up and rushed on Robby, overpowered him and almost stabbed him when they both stopped at the sound of a small voice. A laughter from a drooling clapping little girl who had crawled in front of her parents. She crawled further sat on her butt and clapped one more time still laughing.
Both Robby and Solace already worn out sat on the floor and stared at their child. The little girl clapped the more and burped out something that sounded like "MAMA".
Did she just speak? Robby asked. This time it came out better...MAMA!! Solace rushed to her baby and for the 1st time after almost 3 years she broke a smile.
Our biggest regrets often show up when we don't see our aspirations and dreams come to life as we play it out in our head.
You start a business, you settle down, you have your 1st child, in the beginning it may be still and not show any sign of development. It may not speak or show life. Don't give up. Though it may delay, you will surely hear the sound, you will surely see it move. Hang on! Don't kill yourself! Hope in hope.
Remember Hope crawls, Hope speaks!
