EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL COMMISSION ON CULTURE PAYS OFFICIAL WORKING VISIT TO SAVANNAH REGION

The Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture (NCC) has undertaken an official working visit to the Savannah Region Centre for National Culture as part of efforts to strengthen cultural development and institutional engagement in the region.

In observance of traditional protocol, the Executive Director, upon arrival, paid homage to the Damongowura, Overlord of the Damongo Traditional Council, acknowledging his authority and reaffirming the Commission’s respect for traditional leadership.

The Executive Director was accompanied by the Head of Finance and Accounting of the National Commission on Culture, the Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, the Director of the Centre for National Culture, Savannah Region, and other members of staff.

During the palace engagement, the Damongowura expressed appreciation for the leadership of the Regional Director and appealed for consideration of an extension of his tenure. In response, the Executive Director indicated that the matter would be communicated to the appropriate authorities for consideration.

The palace accorded the Executive Director a grand traditional reception, during which he was presented with gifts, including a smock, one hundred tubers of yam, and a billy goat.

As part of the visit, the Executive Director also paid a courtesy call on the Savannah Regional Minister. Discussions focused on shared priorities and a common vision for advancing cultural development in the Savannah Region.

The visit further included a staff engagement at the Centre for National Culture, Savannah Region, where the Executive Director addressed staff, outlined key priorities and expectations, and shared the Commission’s strategic direction. He also listened to staff concerns, after which the Regional Director highlighted some of the challenges confronting the Centre.

The Executive Director commended staff for their dedication and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening regional centres and promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
