South African doctors achieved a world-first medical milestone: the first successful p***s transplant. Just six months after surgery, the 21-year-old recipient became a father.

The patient had lost his organ during a traditional circumcision ritual. In December 2014, a team from Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg Hospital performed a complex nine-hour operation. Within three months, he regained full urinary and sexual function—followed by the birth of his healthy child.

Though not life-saving, the transplant was life-restoring. Many men with ge***al injuries face stigma, depression, and even suicidal thoughts. Lead surgeon Dr. Andre Van der Merwe explained that restoring such intimate function means restoring dignity and identity. Using techniques adapted from facial transplants, the team reconnected tiny nerves and blood vessels—setting a global precedent for reconstructive surgery.

This groundbreaking case is proof that medicine isn’t only about survival—it’s about restoring wholeness.

It's truly mind-blowing! 🤯 Xiaozhai Tiankeng, the world's largest and deepest sinkhole, translates to "Well of Heaven" or "Heavenly Pit." Situated in Fengjie, China, it's an astonishing natural wonder, with the Eiffel Tower able to fit inside. Measuring 662 meters deep, 626 meters long, and 537 meters wide, it was formed by an underground river over thousands of years. The pit's creation was due to the collapse of a huge cave's roof. Inside, a hidden world teems with life, featuring green forests, rare animals, and an underground river that flows 8.5 kilometers into a powerful waterfall. During the rainy season, a second waterfall emerges from the top, making it even more breathtaking. Adventure seekers can descend a 2,800-step staircase to explore this "lost world" up close—a unique place on Earth. 🌏

U.S. Consul General Elliot Fertik emphasizes that visa fees are non-refundable by law, as they cover the costs associated with processing applications, regardless of the outcome. In an interview on Joy FM's Super Morning Show on June 24, 2025, he clarified that U.S. law mandates the collection of processing costs for each visa application, whether approved or denied. According to Mr. Fertik, this fee offsets the expenses incurred by the government. He acknowledged the frustration experienced by many Ghanaians who pay the visa fee but are not granted visas. However, he underscored that all applications are evaluated on individual merit, in accordance with U.S. law. Mr. Fertik noted that this policy is not specific to Ghana, but rather applies globally, ensuring that each applicant bears the cost of their own application process. Regarding difficulties in securing visa appointments, particularly for student applicants, he cautioned against engaging third-party agents who claim to secure slots for a fee. Mr. Fertik warned that such individuals are likely dishonest, emphasizing that no one has special access to the visa appointment calendar. He added that paying such individuals often results in fraud, violating both U.S. and Ghanaian law. Furthermore, Mr. Fertik stated that the U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, has arrested and prosecuted individuals who manipulate the appointment system. Visa fees for non-immigrant visas, including student, tourist, and work categories, must be paid prior to scheduling an interview. Although this policy has drawn criticism, the Embassy maintains that it is a standard global procedure. The U.S. Embassy in Ghana continues to uphold this policy.
