Sometimes I sit down and think about the timeline we were born into… and it feels like we’ve been speed-running history.
When we were in SHS, the world shut down because of COVID. School stopped. Life paused. We were literally doing assignments while a global pandemic was unfolding outside.
Then we got to university… and suddenly the world started talking about wars again like it was the 1940s. News notifications every day. Countries threatening each other. The kind of things we only read about in textbooks growing up.
Now we’re about to graduate, ready to chase jobs… and boom, AI enters the chat. The same jobs we studied for are now being questioned by machines that can write, code, design, and think faster than us.
And just when people say “don’t worry, build a career, settle down, get married”… we’re also living in a time with the highest divorce rates ever recorded. The blueprint our parents followed doesn’t even seem stable anymore.
Sometimes it feels like every stage of our life came with a global plot twist.
But maybe that’s the thing about our generation.
We weren’t raised in normal times.
We were raised in history.
And somehow… we’re still here figuring it out.
