ODE TO MY HESED
Hesed. A description of God in His lovingkindness and mercy
“Good men are anxious not to work in vain. They know that without the Lord they can do nothing, and therefore they cry to him for help in the work, for acceptance of their efforts and for the establishment of their designs.” (Spurgeon)
There’s just something about this new age of fifty-six that makes it feel very special. I remember how excited I was at turning fifty, but this fifty-six is something. I feel like I’m growing into myself. Finding a joy in what I do and the myriad of gifts that God has given me. My circle has diminished but the people who choose to be around me, not often, because some don’t even live here, give me times of precious memories and wisdom. Those who find me are God’s choices for me. Prayer groups, volunteer work, creative projects – Oh my God has been gracious! He’s caught me when I was falling, stilled the storms, consoled and filled my heart and soul with the fuel of His Word. He’s made me grateful for everything, big and small and gratitude is such a balm to the soul.
I’m grateful for the visions He puts on my heart, and the way He allows me to get all the messages and information I need to execute. He’s not a modern God. He’s a timeless God, unchanging, my Hesed, forever! Without Him, I can do nothing.
