📸 The Artist Talk with Anna Kacheishvili

Ana Kacheishvili is a Georgian photographer and a theatre and film actress by profession, for whom photography has become her primary profession since 2016.
On July 17, Ana will present an overview of her artistic practice, which includes three solo and eight group exhibitions. She has been recognized in numerous international and local photography competitions, and her works are held in private collections. She has also presented her work abroad, including in India and Germany. Ana works as an independent photographer, viewing photography as a medium of information, storytelling, and visual memory.
After receiving three visa refusals to travel to the United States, Ana virtually traveled across nearly every U.S. state from Tbilisi using Google Street View cameras, creating photographs that became her first solo exhibition, “Give Me a Visa.” Her most recent solo exhibition, “Lost Highway,” was presented as part of KOLGA Tbilisi Photo.
Her large-scale photographic project, “Gilgamesh – Where Is God?”, was the result of ten years of work. During this time, she traveled throughout Svaneti, documenting and studying the everyday life and traditions of the mountainous region. The project culminated in both an exhibition and the publication of a photobook.

During the event, Ana will also speak about her upcoming projects. At the end of the evening, visitors will have the opportunity to ask questions and purchase her works.

Guram died at the age of 30, and with him, his age remained frozen in his photographs. Looking through his work, it’s hard to believe that his final images were taken nearly sixty years ago. Therefore you almost feel that, if you tried, you could find him somewhere in Tbilisi after returning from a mountain hike and ask him about the stories behind his photographs, get to know him, talk to him, and watch the way he captures a fleeting moment.
But Tikanadze’s work is as old as our parents or even our grandparents and Guram has long since been gone.
This book, bringing together a large part of his photographic legacy, offers a chance to see the world through his eyes.

Tbilisi is quite unique in the amount of semi-public shared spaces that can be discovered, a phenomenon that is now rare to find in other cities. More often than not the inhabitants are welcoming, sometimes guests are offered coffee or wine. As gentrification encroaches on what are often dilapidated quarters whilst the architecture may be saved the underlying culture doesn’t survive - these photos serve to memorialise these spaces.

Adrian Scoffham (Adrian Scoffham) is a London-born photographer who has lived in Tbilisi since mid-2013; his work is about documenting the beauty in the everyday in and around the city; he captures images on a variety of formats including medium-format film and digital.

From Natela Grigalashvili’s ongoing series “Doukhobors’ Land”

Doukhobors are a Spiritual Christian ethnoreligious group who were relocated from Russia in 19th century, after refusing to change their faith. They settled down in Samtskhe-Javakheti region, near Ninotsminda in around 1841, and founded 8 villages. Nowadays, due to harsh geographical and living conditions, only about 150 of them live in their biggest village Goralovka and their traditions and culture is endangered.

Natela Grigalashvili is one of the first Georgian documentary photographers, who photographs rural communities with her own original vision in such a way that each photo, along with being a document reflecting the lives of these people, is a mixture of emotions and empathy. She has been working on projects “The Doukhobors”, and the “Final days of Georgian Nomads”, and has finished the “Village of Mice” series. She founded a first photo-agency in Georgia “Kontakt Photos” in 2015.

დუხაბორები ქრისტიანული ეთნო-რელიგიური ჯგუფია, რომლებიც რუსეთიდან მე-19 საუკუნეში გამოასახლეს, რადგან უარი თქვეს სარწმუნოების შეცვლაზე. ისინი სამცხე-ჯავახეთში, ნინოწმინდის რეგიონში დასახლდნენ. რთული გეოგრაფიული და საოცხოვრებელი პირობების გამო დღესდღეობით მხოლოდ 150 დუხაბორიღაა შემორჩენილი მათ ყველაზე დიდ სოფელ გორალოვკში, შესაბამისად, მათი კულტურა და ტრადიციები გაქრობის საშიშროების წინ დგას.

DELTA is a photo series by Pavel Nasadil about Mississippi Delta.

Pavel traveled to Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky between 2020 and 2025. He listened to Delta’s music, stood still in its shadows and met people who welcomed him in their lives, and created his visual American Diary of feelings and moments that take you to a journey through a region that is often spoken of, but rarely understood.

These past weeks have been quite busy at Fotografia! 📸

We opened Natela Grigalashvili’s exhibition “Embedded Practices” with an artist talk, where she took a deep dive into her ongoing projects “The Land of Doukhobors” and “The Final Days of Georgian Nomads”. The exhibition will remain on view until May 17.

📖 We also hosted Alain C.J. de Lotbinière who discussed the place of photography in contemporary art and the challenges of creating a photo book. The talk was accompanied by a presentation of his selected work.

🎥 Fotografia Gallery was happy to welcome KOLGA Photo Festival 2026 to our space with a book presentation and a screening by Andreas Otker-Kast, that brings together the work of 15 Georgian photographers who reflect on hope for an open future.

Fotografia expresses deep gratitude to each artist and audience member for being part of Fotografia’s community.
