In the latest IKT Spotlight interview, Mariam Shergelashvili reflects on her curatorial practice, her work at the State Silk Museum in Tbilisi, and the importance of creating spaces for exchange, interpretation and critical reflection.

Mariam’s practice is shaped by museum work, research, and collaboration across disciplines. In the interview, she discusses the influence of the State Silk Museum’s unique environment, where history, science, art and cultural heritage come together, and reflects on the relationship between art, historical change and the social conditions that shape creative practice.

She also shares insights into recent projects including “Cartography of Monochrome Feelings”, developed through her curatorial platform unarchived_semiotics and presented at Art Foundation Anagi. At TAF • Tbilisi Art Fair, the curatorial concept behind this year’s selection by Reach Art Visual centered on bringing together artistic expressions dispersed across time and space, and fostering a dialogue between them.

As part of TAF 2026, Reach Art Visual presented the first public showcase of works by the Georgian artist NOBU.

NOBU (b. 1993) is the pseudonym of a Georgian artist currently living and working abroad.

The artist chose the Japanese word Nobu (“trust,” “faith”) as a pseudonym, reflecting a dialogue between internal Eastern cultural codes and the visual language of Western abstraction.

NOBU (დ. 1993) ქართველი არტისტის ფსევდონიმია, რომელიც ამჟამად საზღვარგარეთ ცხოვრობს და მუშაობს.

Only a few days remain until the opening of TAF • Tbilisi Art Fair!

From May 21-24, at the region’s largest art fair, Reach Art Visual will present two exhibition spaces.

This year’s curatorial concept centers on bringing together artistic expressions dispersed across time and space and creating a dialogue between them.

🔹 In Reach Art Visual’s first space, visitors will encounter early and lesser-known works by Lia Bagrationi, masterpieces of Gregor Danelian’s Tbilisi-Armenian school, and the primitivist-feminist explorations of Uzbek-born artist Emma Zar-Khutsi.

These works are united by a distinctive artistic sensibility in which different eras, generations, and cultural codes organically converge, forming a layered vision of Georgian contemporary art.

🔹 Reach Art Visual’s second space will feature emerging artists whose practices explore the multilayered nature of abstract and experimental thought. Their paintings, graphic works, and collages are distinguished by originality of perception and expression, as well as a strong sense of individuality.

Participating artists: Mari Babaevi, NOBU, Giorgi Shengelia, Kristine Tusiashvili.

This year, Tbilisi Art Fair 2026 unfolds on an especially ambitious scale. The platform seeks to connect the South Caucasus, Eastern Europe, and Central Europe to a broader global context, creating a unique space for cultural dialogue and exchange.

The First International Auction of Georgian Art in Tbilisi

On April 27, Tbilisi will host the region’s first international art auction, presented by one of Europe’s leading auction houses, the Dutch Hessink’s.

The sale will be led by renowned auctioneer Bradley Hessink, known for handling the auction of iconic works by Banksy.

The auction features around 90 works of contemporary Georgian art, curated by Thea Goguadze-Apfel, founder of Reach Art Visual.
