This March, Port Talbot Musical Theatre Company is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month — a time to honour the strength, resilience and stories of women who shaped our world.
As we prepare to bring Bonnie & Clyde to the stage this April, we are especially proud to represent real women from history. Their lives were complex, courageous, and deeply human — and telling their stories is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Here are just a few of the real women featured in our show:
✨ Bonnie Parker – Often remembered as one half of the infamous duo, Bonnie was more than a headline. She was a poet, a dreamer, and a woman whose story still fascinates nearly a century later.
✨ Blanche Barrow – Thrust into the gang’s world through marriage, Blanche’s perspective offers a powerful look at loyalty, fear and survival.
✨ Emma Parker – A devoted mother who endured the pain and public scrutiny of her daughter’s choices.
✨ Cumie Barrow – Fiercely protective and steadfast, Cumie stood by her son despite the storm surrounding him.
✨ Miriam A. Ferguson – Known as “Ma” Ferguson, she made history as one of the first female Governors in the United States, serving during the era in which our story unfolds.
Through music, storytelling and performance, we honour these women — not just as figures in a notorious chapter of history, but as daughters, mothers, wives, leaders and individuals navigating extraordinary circumstances.
Join us as we bring their stories to life.
