Cordiceps Frog tattoo for the lovely Catya above some existing stripes. This was from my predrawn designs that I have. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time so thanks for getting this!

You can see more of my available designs on here, my booking page and my website! Lots of choose from, both creepy and lovely botanical/animals. ♡

Started this cover up tattoo for Livi. The brief was ‘weird’. Cover ups can be tricky and you have to be open to the potential of something having to go either bigger, darker or both, or you can go down the route of laser to lighten up the area which can open up your options to go lighter. This time, Livi was very open to all options so in some places we are working with what Livi already has, I’ll be reworking the roses and covering up the rest.

Do you have something you’d like covering up or reworking?

I spent some time over the weekend working on drawing this collection of designs. I was inspired by a recent piece I did for Tom and wanted to draw more pieces with the theme of ‘Air’, but for everything to be a little bit broken, trapped or restrained.
The element of air can relate to our sense of logic, our thoughts, our mind and our communication, among other things. I find it a really interesting subject to draw on.
All of these designs are available to be tattooed and I’ll be making a really limited edition run of prints once it’s finished.
I’m starting to feel the cosy season approaching and I’m really excited for it! The candles have been lit and the blankets are out!

I’m trying to show more things that are in progress. One of my most recent posts highlighted that people don’t really know how much work goes in to things, and how can they if we don’t show it? We are so used to seeing finished pieces. So here you go, a drawing that is about a third of the way done. To this point it’s taken me around 5 hours. Thats included sketching out ideas, planning the piece, changing things, sketching the initial layout and then biro to where it is now.

This will be an available tattoo designs if you’re interested in getting this piece let me know! ♡

Sometimes I have the absolute honour of getting to tattoo every tattoo on someone. Having someone choose me to be ‘their tattoo artist’ is an unbelievable feeling.

Being chosen to do just ONE tattoo for someone really is a great feeling, but to do multiple and even all of them is absolutely wild!

Matthew came to get his first tattoo in May 2023 and has gradually added to his collection.

He always comes with some great ideas! Sometimes they’re really detailed and sometimes they’re complex.

We’ve worked on his chest piece and extended it. Larger pieces on his upper arms and lots of other really cool pieces. Not all of them are shown here but if you scroll down my feed, you’ll see a lot of Matthew!

Every single piece is designed for him (as it is with everyone I tattoo!)

Matthew isn’t the only one that I’ve had the absolute joy of doing all of his tattoos, thank you to everyone that gets tattooed by me, whether you’ve had one or many!

If you’re new here, I tattoo a mix of beautiful botanicals and dark, twisted and weird surrealism tattoos (with some bits in between!)

How long does a detailed, bespoke tattoo take to do? Using my most recent tattoo as an example.

(These times vary from one tattoo to the next).

The enquiery and booking process, including chatting about ideas:

1 hour total

The design process, including sketching ideas, drawing and finalising the design:

11 hours.

The brief was the element of Air, with a design that the more Tom looked at it, the more details he saw.

(Absolutely zero Ai used ever!)

Drawing up the stencil and doing different plan versions to make sure the shading and detail is readable:

2 hours

Client arriving, showing the design and chatting through the piece, getting the stencil printed and on the body in the right location:

1 hour 20 minutes

The actually tattoo itself, including some small breaks and 20 minutes for lunch:

5 hours 15 minutes

Allowing the tattoo to settle, taking pictures, wrapping the tattoo and refreshing aftercare information (this is only Tom’s second tattoo and he did amazingly on the first one so I didn’t need to go through much!):

45 minutes

Choosing the best photos and posting on social media:

50 minutes

Total time:
22 hours and 10 minutes

Tattoos are much more than just the time you are sat in the chair being tattooed… and I’m grateful for every minute of it!

Thank you, Tom Wise for getting this piece and allowing me so much artistic freedom with this project!

Added more to Tom’s dark surrealism air element sleeve with this nest and bird. Tom wanted a design where the more he looked at it the more things he could see.

I really loved working on this piece. It’s always good to work with someone that appreciates the whole creative process.

I’d absolutely love to do more dark surrealism pieces! Send me your ideas or your concepts using the link in my profile and we’ll chat! ♡
