Thank you all who came and supported Northern Electric's 'Rust', our immersive spoken word piece in collaboration with Arts Barge - performed ON the Arts Barge itself - its rightful home last Thursday, over three performances.
The piece was originally a response to the barge, in its rusty & dilapidated state before refurb and it was great to deliver the finished piece on the (almost) finished barge as part of the current Riverside Festival.
It's been a long journey with this project - presenting a version at the excellent Free Fringe last July, receiving R&D support from York Theatre Royal at the end of 2018 then presenting this final version as part of the Great Yorkshire Fringe this year in collab with the wonderfully talented musicians Christian Topman and Chris Moore, who brought such generosity and instinctive skill to the piece - but we've loved it. It's a story that's seeped silty into our very veins. Runs deep like the Ouse.
We say thanks to the wonderful Arts Barge project who kick-started and finalised the whole shebang, to all the lovely folk who have supported us along the way and to the wonderful people of York (and beyond) who came to take part in the Rust experience last week. We love you all.
