🚨 Immersive Assembly Vol 3 🚨

We are very excited to announce that Immersive Assembly Vol 3 has been selected for the Jerwood Developing Artists Fund, from 🤩

Immersive Assembly Vol 3 is an innovative artist development programme for early career digital artists, producers and creators; a multi disciplinary residency focused on learning, peer critique and developing new ideas/work, inspired by Immersive Art and Tech, bringing together a cohort of artists, technologists and cultural influencers to learn, share, network and play.

The is a dedicated fund from Jerwood Arts to support arts organisations to deliver transformative early-career artist development programmes across the UK. We are one of 12 new programmes announced as part of this fund, spanning from digital art to printmaking, opera singing to set design, and multi-disciplinary practices. This is the beginning of an evolving portfolio of programmes that will support artists at a pivotal moment in their careers to gain new skills, experiment with their practice and make new work.

Lilli Geissendorfer, Director of Jerwood Arts said : “Mediale are exceptional specialists in the art of digital and immersive tech and we are thrilled to be funding IA3. Support for early-career artists to get their hands on the latest kit and have the time and space to play and collaborate, with national and international partners, is critical for artistic innovation to thrive.”

🐍 The Celebration of Snakes 🐍

As part of our ongoing programming work with , join artist for an exclusive, hands-on family workshop inspired by the Sin exhibition.

What gave snakes such a bad name? In the Bible, a snake tempts Eve to sin in the Garden of Eden, but it seems strange to cast the snake as the most evil of living creatures when it is humans who are destroying the planet. We need to cultivate a better relationship with the non-human animals that surround us in order to maintain and preserve the eco-system of our planet.

This workshop will celebrate the figure of the snake. Participants will create hybrid human-snake figures using sculpture and collage, and build monuments to snakes with techniques used by Sarah Lucas (seen in the exhibition), and John Stezaker. Rosie asks participants to think about what snakes would say to humans if we could communicate, and make snake music.

Using a green screen, participants will then place their snake-selves and sculptures back in to the Garden of Eden.

Sssssssee you there!

SIN: After Hours 😈

Last Friday we hosted the first ever After Hours event , for their exhibition Sin. Audiences had the opportunity to experience live music and workshops from the incredible , and take an alternative tour of the exhibition with multi-disciplinary artist .

🪩 All Hands on Deck are a Manchester based DJ collective for women, trans and non-binary DJs. They run open-deck parties and DJ workshops, with the aim to create accessible, inclusive and low-pressure spaces for underrepresented groups to try their hands at DJ-ing. They provided the soundtrack to our night through continuous DJ sets and beginners workshops.

🤳🏻 Borkkvlt is a dancer, choreographer and musician based in Yorkshire. Their alternative tour of the Sin exhibition explored the contemporary placing of the concept of sin in our digitally-connected world, and rediscovering ‘sinful’ everyday behaviours.

This After Hours event was the first element of our public programme for the Sin exhibition. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming exhibition-themed, family workshops in November & December, including an artist-led session with 👀

Sin is open until 22 January 2023, and is organised by with .
