A last minute free entry treat at The Crescent Community Venue next Sunday if you are looking for some fun 🙂

A bonus night of punk-infused, indie-rock noise for you this weekend! Returning ongue-in-cheek post-punkers Birdlands are joined by Bull Gorgeous, a ramshackle amalgam of Eugene Gorgeous & Bull featuring the brothers Beer and our awesome buddy Dave Mudie and his telecaster opening the show.

In the round on the dancefloor, bands on from 8pm.

Alongside stints playing guitar with Silver Jews & Lambchop, William Tyler has been making explorative, experimental instrumental records for most of the last fifteen years.

2025's Time Indefinite blew our tiny minds on release, an awesome collision of expansive, ambient Americana and glitchy electronics. Five months later came a full length with Fourtet's Kieran Hebden.

He made a wicked soundtrack to Kelly Reichardt's 2019 indie flick First Cow, did a stunner collab album with Marisa Anderson and released an untouchable run of country-ish instrumental records for Merge in the last decade.

Very excited too to host have Wolf Solent opening the show. Danny Barton if often seen strutting his stuff in York garage-rockers Cowgirl or guitar slinging in The Illness, but the boy's so disgracefully talented he even blows our mind all on his own. Can't wait.

Excited to be hosting a show with the wonderful Linda Smith and her band tomoz/Sunday at The Crescent Community Venue

Sparse, wispy, diy indie-folk songs of the finest kind.

Mega buddies Troutflies open the show celebrating the release of their new smash hit ‘Pugh’.

Cabaret seated loveliness and a real one off opportunity.

Thanks again to Adam Higton for the amazing poster. We’ll have a bunch of free copies at merch.

We are lucky enough to be hanging with Amsterdam DIY heroes The Klittens for a couple of nights in October as they celebrate the release of their debut album Have A Heart’.

This five piece combines their love for pop music and dark sentiments with a punk ethos. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists - such as The Ronettes, MF Doom, Dry Cleaning and Kate Bush - they've crafted a sound that's truly and twistedly their own.

Punk and pop music in equal measure, The Klittens have toured Europe with Otoboke Beaver & Bodega, a pretty high benchmark!

Absolutely keeping it real - the band consists of Yaël Dekker (vocals), Winnie Conradi (guitar), Katja Kahana (guitar), Marrit Meinema (bass guitar), and Laurie Zantinge (drums).

Yes mate. Aussie rock’n’rollers R.M.F.C are back in the UK in the autumn and we’re delighted to be working one a show at Wharf Chambers. The wirey post-punk of debut album Club Hits did indeed hit round these parts.

Also our pleasure to host a first Leeds show for The Hobknobs, the lo-fi pop duo of Yaël Dekker (The Klittens) and Arie van Vliet (Lewsberg). Their ace debut Helmet’s Off has sixteen tracks of stripped back duets with fun and very classic feeling songwriting.

Tickets on sale now.

Thanks to George Chadwick for the beaut art. A co-pro with our buddies at Brudenell Presents.

R.M.F.C., the brainchild of New South Wales rock'n'roller Buz Clatworthy have released one album and a trio of singles for awesome Aussie indie Anti Fade Records (Delivery, Parsnip, Terry, Civic, Vintage Crop).

They've played alongside the likes of Oh Sees, Ty Segall, Snooper, EXEK, UV Race, Institute, The Shifters, toured Europe and the US and are back for a handful of UK shows in September.

The Hobknobs is the duo of Yaël Dekker (The Klittens) and Arie van Vliet (Lewsberg) - live they are a trio and have recently toured alongside Horsegirl, Cass McCombs, Ora Cogan, Cindy and Prewn. Their first album ‘Helmets Off’ will see the light of day on June 26th!

Another wicked show for the heads this summer :)

Aided by twin sirens Christina Carter (of Texas noise-psych legends Charalambides) and Gayle Brogan (Pefkin), Jeffrey Alexander brings his psych-jazz-krautrock quartet back to the UK this summer, after the release of Liquid Donnon, a wild peak-Lidders new record on Riot Season.

For the full experience be at The Crescent in York on August 6th. We're joined by motorik York improv gang The NSC Sound Union and Neil Campbell who's donning his Astral Social Club moniker for us. A treat.

Full low-down:

'Five scintillating slow-burning jams, gradually dissolving into ripples of fuzz guitar, sax, vibraphone and wordless incantations.'
Uncut Magazine

'Cosmic jazz, deep psych and conversational jams converge on Liquid Donnon — multiple kinds of "heavy" adding up to musical grace.'
KLOF Magazine

JEFFREY ALEXANDER has been frittering around the edges of the psychedelic underground for decades, evolving his own musical space that overlays dusty folk, cosmic jazz, deep psych, free improv, and even (gasp!) indie rock. He’s been called a “psych rock lifer” (UNCUT), crafting “digressive jams that meander through free-form jazz, bluesy kosmische” (PROG) and “extremely highgrade psych” (MOJO). Convened in 2019 on Alexander’s relocation back to his native east coast, Philadelphia’s Heavy Lidders are the latest hard-touring expression for the guitarist’s music, joining a vast and tangled discography (and tape list) that includes the beloved long-running west coast Dire Wolves Just Exactly Perfect Sisters Band and, before them, the Iditarod and Black Forest/Black Sea, as well as a bushel of solo play-all-the-instruments projects, a stint with Jackie-O Mo********er, sessions with Kemialliset Ystävät and Avarus and others.

The newest studio LP, “Liquid Donnon” (released 12 June 2026 on Riot Season), catches Jeffrey Alexander & The Heavy Lidders at their heaviest, “heavy” in the Lidderverse being far from a monolithic musical idea. There’s heavy like the album-opening “From Loch Raven to Fells Point,” one of several tracks with elegant and gnarled conversational jams featuring the core Lidders lineup of Alexander alongside guitarist Drew Gardner and bassist Jesse Sheppard (both of Elkhorn) and drummer Scott Verrastro (Kohoutek, Bardo Pond). But there’s heavy, too, with tracks where Gardner shifts to dream-space vibraphone, and those with Christina Carter of Texas noise-psych legends Charalambides on veil-crossing wordless vocals, her first collaboration with Alexander in some 20 years. She will indeed be fronting the band on this brief UK tour.

It’ll be nearly ten years since we last hosted Nadia in York! A treat, with DBH on violin and Josh Horsley on cello, a refined affair live at National Centre for Early Music in September.
Tickets on sale on Friday.

New Zealand–raised, Manchester-based songwriter Nadia Reid presents a run of intimate shows featuring old and new songs, re-imagined with a two-piece string ensemble.

Reid reflects: “In 2021 some of my songs were arranged by Alex Taylor for violin, piano and cello. It feels special to be digging out those scores and performing with Todmorden-based multi-instrumentalist DBH and newcomer Josh Horsley from Liverpool on cello.”

These intimate shows are not to be missed. Nadia is currently working on new material for her fifth studio album.

A treat to welcome psych/improv-rock outfit EarthBall to York for the first time in August. Recent cover stars of The Wire and of my t-shirt yesterday! A sax-guitar-electronic swirl for the heads.

Awesome to also host brilliant York lo-fi wonder Wolf Solent back to the stage, and our friends Steph & John filling in the gaps.

A late summer treat to look forward to.

EARTHBALL are an avant/noise/rock wrecking ball of a band from Nanaimo, Canada. Rooted in total improvisation, free expression, and a deeply psychedelic sensibility, EarthBall operate on pure instinct.
