The Dead Ducks are back with their new murder mystery themed sketch show!

The Dead Ducks are perturbed to be invited to the hilltop stately home of a former colleague. As punchlines and corpses begin to pile up, the choice is made clear: commit to the bit or risk being the next body found in the parlour. Will help arrive before daybreak? Will any of the Ducks escape their grisly fate? Can no one really tell that the Cardinal is a bear?

Get on down to the Micklegate Social on the 22nd and 29th of July, alongside August 12th, at 20:00 to see the excellent show being taken down to the Edinburgh Fringe this year, and solve the mystery…

STEVIE MARTIN x COMEDYSOC SUMMER STAND UP FUNDRAISER

We are incredibly lucky to have Stevie Martin join us for our summer fundraiser to help send The Dead Ducks to the Edinburgh Fringe.

Having starred in the 19th series of Taskmaster, Stevie has recently written and co-starred in the Channel 4 sketch series Mitchel and Webb Are Not Helping. She has recently been on tour with her critically acclaimed show clout, selling out both her 2023 and 2024 Edinburgh Fringe runs, alongside her 57-date tour.

Joining Stevie will be York ComedySoc's born-and-bred comics, both past and present:
Freddy Russell
Joe Alec
Corin Bertrand
William Kirk
Pip White
James Perham
MC: Izzy Murtagh

Alongside the comedy will be a raffle, with all performers bringing in cool and interesting prizes to be won on the night, bound to take pride of place on any mantelpiece.

Join us on Wednesday, 8th July at the Den space. Doors open at 7:10pm for a 7:30pm start.

WE CAN NOW UNVEIL: LAUGHTONBURY!

We ordered the University to build us a whole village (you may have seen and heard a lot of construction work on Campus West) for 72 hours of dedicated comedy consumption, and we are now slicing the red ribbon on Laughtonbury. It will be open for Thursday 30th April (in V/N/045), Friday 1st May (in ENV/005), and Saturday 2nd May (in ENV/005), and within you will find a veritable feast of fantastic festivity - from hooked Ducks to summoning Satan, there’s something for everyone. In fact, we've left a guidebook in the comments for each day so you don’t get lost!

For those of you who wish to purchase a day of whimsical wonder, admittance to the festival is priced at £2.50 for members and £4.50 for non-members. And for our true connoisseurs of comedy, you can gain access to ALL THREE DAYS at the price of £6 for members and £10 for non-members. Now, I’m no mathematician, but compared to a regular boring festival, £10 or less for three days of jam-packed content is an absolute steal.

We look forward to welcoming you in!

His Edinburgh Fringe show Stuart Laws Has to Be Joking was given 11x 4-star reviews, and a British Comedy Guide Recommendation.

Robyn Holborn
Eva Peroni
Joe Alec
Vaani Warrier
Jake Stogden
Connie Dugan
MC: James Perham

Join us on Wednesday, 29th April at the SPARK* show space. Doors open at 6:50 pm for a 7 pm start.

Take a good look!

You may have seen our exclusive preview reel (if not, go do it now. If you have, maybe watch it again just to be sure) but Comedysoc paparazzi have been hard at work hiding in bushes outside the homes of our Taskmaster contestants to secure for you a proper portrait of them. From left to right:

Alex Minihan
Ben Severn
Elliot Rushton
Joe Alec
Harry-Jack Thompson

To see these elusive figures in the flesh, come to V/N/045 on Thursday 23rd April at 8pm, where we'll have lured them with a trail of biscuit crumbs. Little do they know that once they're on that stage, they will be forced to confront their past actions and justify them before the omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent Taskmaster.

The Taskmaster requires funds to feed his assistant and avoid further investigations, so this show will cost £2.50 for members and £4.50 for non-members!

Yes, indeed, we have been given permission by the big man himself to share with you these exclusive snippets of what and who you can look forward to if you mosey on down to V/N/045 on Thursday 23rd April at 8pm. Gaze upon them, marvel at them, and ponder what life choices could have led them to prance about for others' entertainment, as they battle it out for the approval of the Taskmaster. Who are these souls so willing to toss aside what little scraps of dignity they have left? Please welcome to the stage:
