Can we make a pact right now? Can we all say that we're gonna do our best to NOT punish our bodies during this holiday season? Even when the calorie counting commentary starts. Even when we eat past the point of comfort. Even when the body shaming rears its head at the dinner table.
Can we try our best to NOT internalise it all and take it out on our bodies? Let's not restrict when our bodies need nourishment. Let's not use over-exercising as a punishment for what we've eaten. Let's not tell ourselves that we're ugly, lazy, worthless for enjoying food.
I know it's a lot to get through every year, and I'm not saying we have to promise that we won't fall into the diet culture trap at all. But we can make a pact to try our best. And recognise that if we do fall in, it isn't on us. We're up against a lifetime of being conditioned to see food as the enemy and our bodies as the problem.
Especially at this time of year, however you get through is fu***ng impressive. Oh, and you're allowed to eat today, tomorrow, and every day, regardless of what you ate the day before. Your body is always deserving of nourishment, care and respect, no exceptions. 💜
