AND WE’RE BACK!!!

3 big things come up in the next 6 weeks.
All in North Yorkshire AT THE MILL, where I spent lockdown building lots of stages and seating, and it’s nearly ready! Our own little summer theatre type thing.

NEW PROJECT.
SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE MUSICIANS HAVE COVERED SONGS FROM OUR SHOWS!

This is Sam Griffiths, singing ‘Tumble Down’ a song from our show Eurydice.

Sam is the SongWriter and FrontMan of Leeds Based band, The Howl & The Hum.

I first saw sam perform at an open mic in York when he had just arrived in the city for univercity. He came over to a table I was sat at, and asked friend of gobbledigook, Bradley Blackwell if he would accompany him on his set, on the double bass.

Brad said Yes. It was a great set.

And years later they would go on to form The Howl & The Hum, along with guitarist Connor Hirons, and drummer Jack Williams. They released their debut album, HUMAN CONTACT, during lockdown in 2020. It’s an absolute triumph.

Sam is beyond doubt one of my favourite Singers, and Lyricists, and its SUCH a joy to hear him play a song of ours.

As for the song, it was one of the first to come about for Eurydice, ahead of its Adelaide World Premiere in 2019. Lyrics By Alexander Wright, and music by Phil Grainger. Written in Phil’s kitchen in North Yorkshire.

We’re so glad Sam chose this song for the Myths Tape.

Here I am in Streaky Bay, the last place I did a show beofre lockdown.
Since then, we’ve been out, performing in peoples gardens, which we’ll continue to do, but now we can do shows outdoors, we’ve booked a week of work in Alexander G Flanagan-Wright’s garden, at Stillington Mill.

We’re doing some Orpheus, some Eurydice, some new stuff, and some Orpheus and Eurydice.

Friends, Alexander from The Flanagan Collective and I have a new season of work. It’s work to be delivered amidst a global pandemic.

When audiences can’t sit in the same room, we’re finding new ways to tell stories.

- A Privatly Booked, Local tour of a live show,
- A Story, written to be read, with guest Illustrators.
- A Double Narrative Album, retelling Two Greek Myths.
- A Pen Pal Network, to find a share new Art.
- An episodic adaption of The Odyssey, run in UK, USA, AUS and NZ, performed through 1 on 1’s.

HERES ANOTHER PART OF
‘ILL TRY AND SEE YOU SOMETIMES’

The 3rd project to be announced from Alexander and Phil’s new season.

For This one we’re teaming up with Olive Tilner, and Andy McKee and the brilliant STREATHAM SPACE project.

It’s a narrative Album. It’s 2 narrative albums. Telling the story of Deadelus / Icarus, and Theseus / Ageus.

It’ll be released later this year, on Vinyl, CD, and Digital.
