Marking 150 years since the birth of Sir Herbert Nigel Gresley ๐, one of Britainโs most influential locomotive designers, weโre celebrating his remarkable legacy with a special feature from the team at Monk Bar Model Shop.
Best known for iconic designs such as Mallard ๐ฆ and Flying Scotsman ๐ during his time with the LNER, Gresleyโs engineering influence extended even further than many realise. In 1941, he also designed an electric locomotive โก, LNER No. 6701, later classified as the EM1 / Class 76.
