Donnie is on the move again! We've been quiet on here the last month or so, but today we're hanging out in Reykjavík, chilling in the snow and basking in the glow of Rainbow Street. We popped in to visit the Handknitting Institute of Iceland as well, will be leaving the country with Icelandic yarn.

✨ Yes, I know it’s “still” only November…
…but we’re now more than halfway through, and Donnie* (bless him) is getting excited — and honestly, I’m not going to be the one to break his little heart.

He’s excited for a couple of reasons:

🧵 More Advent Calendars are flying out to members of the flock all around the world — which is always amazing to see.

🎁 There’s still time to get yours in time for the start of Advent!
Everything is made, wrapped, and ready to post — and US orders go DDP, so no surprise customs fees for my US flock.

We are now officially into low-stock territory in several areas:

✨ Only 2 of the mixed resin & metal Advent Calendars left
✨ Several fabric/marker combos are nearly gone
✨ And only 4 of the “12 Days of Christmas” half-calendars remain — that’s 12 full days of surprise stitch marker fun!

If you’ve been on the fence, or gently putting it off, this is your moment before your favourite combination disappears for the year.

Honk if you need a sign — this is it. 🪿💛

So today is World Diabetes Day, and as someone who is working their way through year 17 of living with Type 1 Diabetes, this day always gives me a little pause for thought.

The symbol you'll see a lot in Diabetes Awareness Month is the blue circle, which represents unity and connection. If you don't know this about me, I love a good Venn Diagram — and diabetes and craft are two ‘circles’ of my life that have a surprising amount of overlap. Many of my favourite people I’ve met through Type 1 are also crafters. And so many crafters I’ve got to know turn out to have their own connections to diabetes.

Maybe you're on day 1 of your diabetes journey. Maybe you're on day 101. Maybe you've lost count of the days, as so many of us have — but wherever you are on your path, whether you're Type 1, Type 2, LADA, MODY, gestational or any shade of diabetes, I want you to know something:

This is tough. You are tougher.
And if you haven't yet found your ‘tribe’, believe me — they are out there waiting for you. You are not alone.

So on this 14th of November, as a tiny nod to both parts of this Venn Diagram, I'm offering 14% off Regular Goose Stitch Marker Advent Calendars for today only.

Hugs, high fives or fistbumps (whatever you prefer) to all of you, whether you're connected to diabetes or not. If you're reading this, you're already an awesome person and I appreciate you more than you know. 💙🪿

Hot take, and maybe it’s just me, but assessing competitors on their crochet skills in a show looking for Britain’s Best Knitter doesn’t quite sit right with me. 🤔

You don’t ask Usain Bolt to prove he’s the fastest man alive by throwing a javelin, do you? 😉

And that’s coming from someone who learned knitting first and is still learning to crochet (and still thinks it’s some kind of magical witchcraft!) — so I have nothing but respect for both crafts and the skill each takes. 🧶💚

That said, some of those dog outfits really were iconic — and while I’ve never made iconic dog jumpers, I have made dog jumpers for an iconic dog. 🐾💚

Here’s Kenzo — Outfoxed Designs resident gentleman — modelling his handmade look from a few years back. A distinguished old man who knew exactly how long he was willing to wear it… just long enough for his photo. 🪿✨

What did you think of this week’s Game of Wool challenge?

I’m sure I’m not the only one who was knitting along while catching up on The Game of Wool! 🧶 (Gloves for me, if you’re wondering! Smooshing together a glove and mitten pattern for gloves with little flaps!)

I was overjoyed to see Isaac’s Fair Isle tank top striving for goose representation — a true kindred-spirit moment. Isaac, you’re welcome in the flock any time. 🪿💛

And if, like me, you felt the gentle dread of those tangled colourwork yarns… keep your eyes peeled here over the next week or two. There just might be something launching that feels like a warm, cosy hug for your yarn. 😉✨
