No Priest but Love - on Sunday 9 August 2026, join us for an afternoon of Anne Lister with one talk, a short walk and a new play for York.

Just in time for the last day of ALBW (Anne Lister Birthday Week), we have an early bird offer for you. Those with the link in the comments below have exclusive access to the first 30 tickets at a reduced price of £25. All funds raised go to Keep the Gate Open - the campaign to restore the Goodramgate gate.

No Priest but Love focuses on Anne’s relationship with Mariana Belcombe. The show was written by Angela Clare based on work by Helena Whitbread. This script-in-hand will be the second time it has been performed.

Start at Holy Trinity Goodramgate for a talk from the author, followed by a walk to Merchant Taylors (a historic venue used for performances before the building of York Theatre Royal).
