Helen Laxton School of Dance Training young dancers across Somerset & Dorset for over 40 years. We teach children from 15 months - adult, all ages & abilities are welcome.

Building confidence, sharing joy & a love of dance, creating unforgettable opportunities, treasured memories & life long friendships, making many dreams come true! We are one of the most successful, highly rated dance schools in the region, we have been training dancers of all abilities from beginners to professionals in Somerset and Dorset for over 30 years. We train our pupils in Royal Academy of Dance Ballet, Hip Hop, Street Dance, Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Commercial, Acrobatic Arts. We also have performance squads, 5 award winning Competition Hip Hop Crews, a Hip Hop Academy, The Somerset Youth Dance Company and The Somerset School of Performing Arts
Our pupils are constantly in demand to perform with professional artists locally and nationally and we have numerous former pupils performing in the West End, on TV, in films, advertising and in ballet, dance and stage companies all around the world. We offer free trial sessions to all new pupils, come and join us and become a part of something very special!

Being part of a production gives children and young people the chance to grow in confidence, make new friends, discover their creativity and learn how to work together as a team โ€” all while having lots of fun!

Throughout the year, our pupils will work together towards a very special new Musical Theatre performance bringing all of the skills learnt in their lessons together

From learning choreography and developing characters to rehearsing scenes and performing on stage, every pupil will play an important part in bringing our musical to life

Our AcroTots classes are packed with fun, energetic activities that develop strength, flexibility, balance & coordination through exciting obstacle courses, tumbling, rolling & creative dance. As children progress to the Acrobatic Arts syllabus levels, they learn exciting skills such as flips, walkovers, aerials, partner work & stunting, all incorporated into beautiful dance routines
