Mike Hayward is a Chipping Sodbury based artist working primarily in acrylics. Inspired by light, atmosphere and the landscape, he paints in an increasingly expressive style, seeking to capture the experience and mood of a place rather than simply record its appearance.

On 1st September 2026, Yate Heritage Centre hosted a special preview event for the artists featuring in this year's Yate Art Open exhibition, along with their friends and families.

This annual exhibition brings together work from artists of different ages, backgrounds and levels of experience, providing an opportunity for local creatives to share their work with the wider community.

This year's exhibition features around 30 local creatives, with a diverse collection of work ranging from paintings and drawings to other artistic media. Each artist brings their own style, inspiration and story to the exhibition. Whether creating art is a lifelong passion or the beginning of a new creative journey, Yate Art Open provides a welcoming space in which that creativity can be shared and celebrated.
