Dance-Projection

Dance-Projection Dance Projection is run by ISTD qualified teachers that love working with people. Our premises are furnished to a high quality standard. CAN WE PAY WEEKLY?

The premises consist of 3 dance studios and a waiting area for parents. The 3 dance studios are all equipped with Harlequin flooring - flooring that is used by all major dance companies, for the safety of the dancer. Our premises are set in a rural location, yet only 1.5 miles from Chelmsford on the A1060. All the teachers at Dance Projection love their jobs and do our best to get the most out of

the students. We offer quality teaching to students of varying ages and ability in a friendly environment. It is our sincere hope that all dancers who enter our studios will be musically, physically and creatively inspired to carry a love of dance with them always. FAQ’s
DO WE STAY AND WATCH CLASSES? Only with the very youngest children whilst they settle in. For some this is ten minutes, others may take a couple of weeks. Parents are then invited to watch at the end of each school term, but not the summer term as this is show term. No, fees are paid in blocks of six. However all new pupils can pay weekly for the first week to try out the class first. The remainder of the block is then due on the second lesson. WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR TO THEIR FIRST LESSON? For young children attending ballet, a skirt and t-shirt or a dress and bare feet. For older children and for modern and tap a tight fitting t-shirt and leggings/tracksuit bottoms. Clothing should be comfortable but not too loose fitting or too long. For tap classes a pair of hard low heeled shoes/boots. Preferably not trainers or sandals. DO YOU OFFER EXAMS TO YOUR STUDENTS? Yes, we teach the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance syllabus or ISTD for short. The first exams are Pre-primary minimum aged of five or Primary minimum age six. Children who are doing Ballet, Modern, Tap and Commercial Street may be asked if they wish to do an exam. The examing body is the ISTD. You can find out more about the ISTD on their website www.istd.org .If your child would like to do Ballet exams then we recommend 2 classes per week if they wish to take an exam every year. If they do once a week then it may take longer to achieve the required level for the exam. Modern and tap is normally once a week and they normally reach the level if there attendance is good. Exams are taken in December and in May/June half term each year. Exams are not compulsory however it is a nice way to finish off the level to move onto the next. HOW OFTEN WILL MY CHILD TAKE AN EXAM? Usually every twelve to eighteen months depending on attendance, practise and commitment. DOES THE SCHOOL DO SHOWS? Yes, usually at the end of the summer term. DO ALL THE CLASSES TAKE PART IN THE SHOWS? Yes, from Pre-primary level up to adults. ARE ALL YOUR TEACHERS QUALIFIED? Yes, all of our teachers are qualified to teach dance and have gone through rigorous training. Due to new government requirements many of our teachers are also in the process of undergoing further training and all attend regular refresher courses to keep up to date with developments. Everyone is first aid trained aswell. ARE ALL TEACHERS INSURED AND DBS CHECKED? All our teachers are insured. It is not a legal requirement for dance teachers in the private sector to be DBS checked. However all our teachers are DBS checked purely as a gesture to parents/guardians that we take child safety and protection seriously. DBS numbers are on notice board in waiting room.

We always encourage our students to progress as far as possible with their examinations, as achieving the higher levels can open so many avenues for the future, particularly for those considering a career in Dance or Teaching.

We are incredibly fortunate to have the faculty and expertise at DP to train and enter students for examinations right through to the highest vocational level, Advanced 2, in Modern, Ballet and Tap.

Advanced 2 is a huge achievement in any genre, but Advanced 2 Ballet in particular requires an exceptional level of technical ability, strength, artistry and commitment, and is extremely challenging to achieve while training at a recreational dance school.

We are therefore so proud to say that both Harley and Kacey have achieved Advanced 2 in ALL THREE GENRES – Ballet, Modern and Tap! What an outstanding achievement and a testament to years of hard work, dedication and training.

A very special congratulations to Kacey, who is heading off to Laine Theatre Arts this September at just 18 years old, having achieved:

⭐ High Merit – Advanced 2 Ballet
⭐ Distinction – Advanced 2 Modern
⭐ Distinction – Advanced 2 Tap

Incredible results and such a fantastic foundation to take with her into full-time professional training.

We couldn’t be prouder of both Harley and Kacey and everything they have achieved. ❤️

As we approach the start of the new academic year we must appreciate last years incredible results.

Last year we competed in the ISTD Awards competition in Modern, Tap and Ballet.

Isabelle Pegg Won the Senior Tap Awards, with Abigail Oxley as runner up also in the Workshop & the Solo.

Phoebe Mansfield Won the Premier Awards for Modern Theatre.

Still pinching ourselves and celebrating these moments. Phoebe & Izzy are probably the most humble students at DP.

Proud 🤩

Summer Dance Days 2026

We feel incredibly blessed to have such wonderful families as part of DP. ❤️

Going to the Dance World Cup was about so much more than results. We wanted to give our students an amazing team-building experience, create memories together and open their eyes to the incredible standard and talent of dancers from all around the world.

A huge thank you must go to all of our teachers who choreographed the routines, gave up so much of their time and continued to support the students throughout the journey, whether that was in person or even over FaceTime. Your dedication to the students never goes unnoticed.

And to our wonderful parents — thank you. Thank you for supporting us, supporting the students, travelling the miles, giving up your time and continually encouraging them. The students really do not realise how lucky they are to have such supportive families behind them, and neither do we. We are so grateful. ❤️

We are incredibly proud to have come away with Top 10 placings for every single one of our groups, competing against some outstanding schools and dancers from across the world.

Our results included:

🥈 2nd Place x 5
🥉 3rd Place x 3
🏅 4th Place x 6
🏅 5th Place x 5
🏅 6th Place x 2

A very special mention has to go to our Street Team, who achieved an incredible 94.5%, finishing just 0.1 away from a Gold medal!

The standard in the Street sections was unbelievable. Those teams were absolutely insane, with so much talent in the room, and it was genuinely breathtaking to watch. To achieve a score like that amongst such an exceptional standard is something our dancers should be extremely proud of.

One of the loveliest things for us to see throughout the whole experience was how much our students genuinely supported one another. They celebrated each other’s successes, encouraged one another and showed such love and sincerity towards their teammates. The bond between them is real, and this experience really brought them even closer together as a team. Seeing them be genuinely happy for one another was something we were incredibly proud of.

Of course, medals and placings are wonderful, but what we are most proud of is how our students represented DP, supported one another and grew together as a team.

What an experience, what a team and what wonderful memories we have made. ❤️

DP proud, always.

The countdown is almost over! Next week, DP travels to Dublin for Dance World Cup 2026, proudly representing England on one of the biggest competitions in the world of dance.

Over the next 11 days, our dancers will perform:
• 7 Solos
• 4 Duets/Trios
• 1 Quartets
• 9 Small Groups
• 9 Large Groups

Within each routine every dancer, teacher and choreographer have countless hours of hard work, dedication, and passion behind the rehearsals. We couldn't be more proud of what they have already achieved.🫶🏻

Whether this is your first Dance World Cup experience or you're returning to the stage once again, remember to support your teammates, and enjoy every second of this unforgettable opportunity. The memories you create will stay with you forever.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing teachers, choreographers, families, costume creators, and supporters. We couldn’t do this without your commitment and encouragement. 💕

Now it's time to step onto that stage, do what you love, and shine.
Good luck, Team DP. Now go and enjoy every moment!!
