Don't forget, you can vote once every 24 hours!
WCSF - Wotton Community Sports Foundation needs your vote!
Wotton Community Sports Foundation who run Wotton Community PARC next to KLB school are trying to raise funds for a community building in the PARC. The building will be open to all the community, not just the Football, Hockey and Rugby clubs and the parkrun who are based in the PARC. We hope the building will include a café/bar, community room, toilets, kitchen, home, away and official changing rooms and outdoor seating.
We have been shortlisted as 1 of 32 sports projects for the Persimmons Homes Building Futures prize, first prize is £100,000 and you can vote at https://www.persimmonhomes.com/building-futures/finalists
You can vote once every 24 hours until the 19th November. We need all the votes we can get so please ask family, friends and colleagues to support us as well. The IP address of the voter is logged for 24 hours, so please ask anybody in the same household to vote on their phone, not connected to the same Wi-Fi or the vote will not count.
The project with the most votes will win the top prize of £100,000, second prize is £50,000 and third gets £20,000, as a finalist we are going to receive a minimum of £5,000.
Every vote really counts as we can demonstrate to other funding partners the scale of the support this project has and that will be really valuable to us.
Useful tips Q&A
Q. How often can I vote?
A. Once in every 24 hour period. So if you voted at 11:00 this morning you can vote again at 11:01 tomorrow morning.
Q. Why is my partner struggling to vote as well?
A. When you vote your IP address is logged (so people can't vote all day). If somebody else in your household is using the same wi-fi connection to vote it will not recognise them as a different person. The way around this is to vote on your phone, when not connected to the wi-fi.
Q. Do we really stand a chance of winning?
A. Yes, with your help. The 96 finalists are split into 3 categories, Sport, Health and Education. The group with the most votes in each category wins the £100,000, so we have at least a 1 in 32 chance and if you look at some of the other finalists you will see there are smaller clubs on the list. If you combine the Football, Hockey and Rugby Clubs with the adult and junior parkrun and community groups who use the site we are a sizable group. Plus we are getting great support from the wider community.
Q £100,000 will not be enough to build a clubhouse, so what's the point?
A. Persimmons Homes is just one of a number of groups we have spoken to about funding. We are also talking to national sporting bodies, councils and businesses and have already had some positive responses and discussion are ongoing. One company isn't going to fund all of the project, but a group of 5 or 6 might.
Q. What can I do to help?
A. Vote as many times as you can (once every 24 hours) and get family, friends and colleague to vote as well.
The vote closes on the 19th November so you have many more opportunities to vote
