✨ Romeo & Juliet: 7-12 July 2026
👑 Richard III: 14-19 July 2026 Shakespeare done properly isn't "difficult" or hard to understand. He just tells a good story - fights, murder, love ... what more could any audience or an actor want! Shakespeare does not need gimmicks or weird interpretations to make the plays accessible to modern audiences. The
plays speak for themselves - given actors who understand and enjoy playing them. Rainbow actors are used to working together in an ensemble. We want to make every audience feel we are playing to them - uniquely. That is where live-theatre can win hands down over film or television. RAINBOW SHAKESPEARE 2022
Yes, we’re back at Worthing's magical Highdown Gardens, under the stars, doing what we love doing best, and audience enjoy being part of: Shakespeare – fun, exciting, understandable and inspiring for all ages. A six year old can sit with the rug-seated picnickers close to the action and be spell-bound by seeing Shakespeare for the first time, and a Bard aficionado (fan) can sit back in their picnic chair and savour the productions afresh, and audiences of all ages can just celebrate being part of that unique experience: Rainbow Shakespeare. AS YOU LIKE IT
One of the most understandable and funny of all the Bard’s comedies, the play brings to the stage a kaleidoscope of glorious characters: wicked dukes, romantic heroes, lovelorn shepherds, cynical jesters, drunken clergymen, and, of course, the most loveable of heroines, hiding under the disguise of her man’s attire, Rosalind. Where better to create the Forest or Arden, ‘under the greenwood tree’, than at Worthing’s own Highdown? Don’t miss the wrestling and wooing! THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR is Rainbow Shakespeare’s second offering this season. Queen Elizabeth I asked to see a play depicting the fat knight Falstaff in love – and here is the joyous, rumbustious result. Sir John Falstaff, low in funds but high in lust and optimism, sets to work to seduce the good wives of Windsor, to the consternation of jealous husbands and outraged citizens. Add a kaleidoscope of colourful characters including a furious Frenchman, an indignant Welshman, and a foolish suitor not to mention a bevy of mischievous scheming women, and all is set for a evening of wonderful misunderstandings culminating at Herne the Hunter’s Oak in Windsor Park, where Falstaff, dress as a Buck Deer……..but no more – that will spoil the story. Come and find out- and tell your friends! Tour 2022
